This Generation
You have to drink in order to be cool
If you are a virgin
You are laughed at
If you have no boyfriend
You are seen as lonely
Not attractive
You need to party
In order to be noticed
And you have to get high
To be the baddest
We follow all these celebrities
Who drink smoke and are after the world's riches
Is that what we look for in role models
Because if it is
Maybe it's time we looked at our characters
Whatever happened to enjoying our childhoods
Whatever happened
To just being real and loving one another
And caring
Looking out for one another
And not being so self invested in ourselves
And not capitalising in each others pain
Why do we cause drama so we can claim we are still here
Everything has to be bigger to be better
Everything except our hearts
And humility
We throw around love like it's a game
Why do we have to party everyweekend
Get lit and wasted
Then it's called experimenting
And If the rest of us don't do it
We are called sissies
Not listened to and tossed to the side like used tissue
And that we aren't enjoying life
Well that is messed up
We speak of the world
Meantime we are the world
We are making life difficult for ourselves
By rushing things
That aren't for us
That we aren't matured for
And when things get tough
We blame everyone around us but not ourselves
We are the world
You are the world
That is trying to crush someone else's individuality
And then claiming its cool afterward
Have you no shame for yourself
Because you don't know yourself
Because you are not happy with you
Don't make someone else feel horrible for being themselves
When its all in your mind
Maybe you do all this because you are not comfortable with yourself
And pretend to be all perfect
When you don't know its okay to be flawed
You are human and that's the beauty
And then you blame someone else
Who knows that
And make them feel guilty for that. And when I say I feel like I'm stuck in the wrong generation
People ask
WhyIt's only because I don't agree with all of this
I dont agree with what certain individuals are putting us through
And pressuring us to believeWhat kind of monster generation are we creating
One that oppresses people emotionally
And not physically like history didSo yes I am stuck in the wrong Generation
I'm meant to be with our old folks
Not because you told me so
But because I believe it
And I live it
The only problem is I'm stuck in a 15 year olds body.
