Chapter 1

“Are you sure you want to do this Aria? There is no going back,” echoed the booming voice above my head. “Yes, I am sure,” I replied timidly. “I just want to find someone else like me.” I was quite shy but talking to the voice of Heaven is pretty scary. “Well, I suppose that is ok, but you do understand that if you wish to return you need to…” But that’s where the voice cut off and I was falling through the air at high speed not even knowing where I would land. “What did I need to do?” I shouted up, my voice panicky. What did I need to do to return home? I asked myself. I didn’t know and if I didn’t know, how would I get home. Then there was a blinding light and that’s all I remembered.

My eyes bolted open after remembering what happened the night before. Or was it the night before? I didn’t know. I noticed I was laying on a bed. It was satin from what I could tell. It was pink and rather elegant looking. I went over to open the window, blinded by the scene. Heaven was nothing like this. I sighed, already missing home. What did I put myself in for? I asked myself suddenly doubting my plan. I had no idea what life was like down here and I was all on my own. I noticed someone stare up at me with an odd expression. I suddenly shut the curtains in a hurry and ran over to the mirror. It was odd seeing myself as a human. In heaven we float around as twinkling lights with beautiful wings. Then a thought occurred. I gazed my eyes towards the mirror slowly. I remembered the girl looked like. For a start she was wearing material. I wondered why for a second but pushed the thought away and started a search for what the human girl was wearing. Once finding some elegant looking material I slipped it over my body tangling myself in the holes.

After a while I managed to get the material on but there wasn’t enough room for my wings which were now glistening white and rather weightless since coming to the human world. “That human didn’t have wings!” I cried suddenly realising what I had done. I had broken the first rule of angle code: don’t let anyone know what you are by seeing you fly. Even witnessing your wings may give you away, the voice replayed in my head. Shocked I quickly twisted my wings around my stomach and pulled the material over the top. Now looking normal, as far as I could tell my life in this human world might work.

Once looking like the girl outside as much as possible I turned round to look at where I was. I remembered from my briefing that humans live in buildings to keep them warm and each building has lots of rooms. “This must be the room I sleep in,” I said to myself. I scanned the room there was a beautiful cream wall paper with elegant birds flying across the wallpaper scene. In the corner there was a wardrobe from where I found my materials, which by now I remembered were called clothes, and painted on it were little flowers in all different colours. There was a woven chair in the corner and a bookshelf by the wall. This room was just like me and I realised this must be my new house.

By the bed there was a cabinet and on it was a book named: The Angels Guide to Human Life. This could come in handy I thought as a flicked the book to the first page. The first page read:

A human has normal needs which need to be accomplished to keep them happy. Here is a list to all the average human needs:

Hunger, a human needs to be feed regularly to keep them alive. 3 meals will do but between intervals the odd snack won’t hurt.

Thirst, a human needs to drink around 8 glasses of water or some other consumable liquid.

Wash, a human should wash around once every day to remove bad odours from their body and wash their hair to make it look nicer.to wash your body you use shower gel. A cold thick liquid which you rub onto your body before washing it off with water. To wash your hair you use shampoo and rub it into your hair before again washing it off…….

The list went on with other human needs like going to the toilet, brushing your hair, sleep requirements and personal hygiene.

Once reading through the whole book I sensed someone approaching but it wasn’t human it was angel. Confused I slowly made my way downstairs with the book in my hand, ready to strike if need be. I was rather jumpy, but I couldn’t blame myself as I was new to this world, I walked into the kitchen where the sense was the strongest. I had heard about burglars and was not prepared to be robbed after only living here two minutes. As I burst through the kitchen door I saw a gorgeous looking angel with white blond hair and freckles across her checks, which were so much brighter than mine. Her hair was short and straight, the opposite to mine which was long and wavy. Confused with the book still poised to hit, the mysterious angel said something. “I come in peace!” she cried. I felt sorry for her and lowered the book realising how scary this world must be for her as well. “Hi,” I replied which was all I could think of saying at the moment, but I needn’t say anymore as the angel explained herself. “I’m Irin,” she replied, “and you must be Aria?” I nodded, in shock on how this angel knew my name. “I was sent here down by heaven to be you big sister and legal guardian,” she continued “as you are only 15 you need someone over 18 to look after you,” she said, probably noticing my confused face. “I am nice I swear!” she laughed “I have enrolled you into the school in this town. Everyone there is really nice and I am sure you will make new friends.” I thought about that for a second before saying “do you know why I was sent down here?” She shook her head with a sorrowful smile “they didn’t tell me they just said I was to be your older sister and legal guardian and do everything I need to do to keep you safe.”                                            “I want to find someone else like me” she gave a confused face not understanding what I meant, “but there is plenty of angels like you up in heaven so what are you looking down here for?” she didn’t know. I thought everyone knew. Should I tell her, it might scare her? “Well you see I am kind of not all angel…” I stopped waiting for her reaction. “What do you mean ‘you’re not all angel’?” she said her voice timid. I wanted her to stay I knew most people who knew the truth avoided me in fear I would hurt them, but I would never hurt anyone. “Well you see…” I am going to tell her “well I am only half angel…” I have to “ok” I cried “I am half angel half vampire” I paused expecting her to run away. “You’re… Half angel…” she tried “half vampire, yes” I blurted out. She seemed shocked but at least she wasn’t running away. “Oh ok” she said calmly. I looked up wondering why she wasn’t scared vampires are connected to the underworld and I could dark magic on her at any moment not to mention being half vampire means I am extremely strong, fast, and thirsty. But I just eat human food and I would never hurt anyone. Not intentionally. I knew it would be hard living in the human world with all the people. Not to mention the fact that, here, I am closer to hell than I have ever been before, I could easily get pulled into the underworld by some leader who wants another vampire to add to his collection, which I did not want to be part of. I just wanted to know if there is anyone out there like me, half good, and half bad.
