I walked with Tristian to his table where he was sat with his friends. I didn’t know what to say, so I decided just to talk when spoken to. “This is Aria, she is new here and I’m sure you probably know her. She is in all my lessons.” I stood then Tristian gestured for me to sit so I sat down next to him. Why was he doing this? Maybe he felt the same connection. I didn’t know but before I could figure out one of his friends spoke “isn’t this like the first girl you have ever spoken to?” Tristian looked down. “I want her to feel welcome so I thought she could sit with us today” he said.
After a few weeks I spent most of my time with Anna and Kierra. They seemed obsessed with me and Tristian and kept asking silly questions. It was a warm day and I had gym next. I wasn’t very good at gym and not to mention I got a few weird looks for changing in the toilets but today we were picking a new sport. I always hated these days because the girls had to have different sports to the boys so I couldn’t see Tristian.
Today was different as I walked into the hall the boys were in there mixing with the girls. “Today,” bellowed the gym teacher “we will be doing mixed sports so boys and girls can go together” some of the boys groaned but the girls cheered. “I know it may not class as a sport but for this half term you will all be doing Ballroom dance.” everyone groaned as we walked into the gym.
For ballroom dance we had to go into partners lots of the girls went with their friends and the boys went with theirs I knew this couldn’t be good as Anna went with Kierra and I was left. I was stood looking around for someone without a partner when I felt hands on my back again. “Tristian?” I whispered. I turned around and he smiled at me “yes?” we laughed “will you be my partner?” he asked. I nodded.
At the end of the gym lesson I was thinking about my mission on land and how I am meant to find someone else like me? I was twirling my hair while our gym teacher was giving us a lecture on how to hold our partner but when he finished someone came up to me “what’s wrong?” Tristian asked. He shocked me and I replied with “just thinking about ways to make people happy” I wanted to sound good and I couldn’t tell him what I was really thinking about. But then came the reply I wasn’t expecting. “Well can you do something to make me happy?” he leant forward to kiss me. It was amazing but then I realised all the people watching. The teacher was about to walk over when one of Tristian’s friends stopped him whispering “he has waited a long time for this.” I felt like it lasted forever but then I think Tristian remembered the people were watching as well so we pulled away and everyone clapped like maniacs. It was embarrassing as well as magical and I spent lunch with him and his mates. He made me feel safe and happy and an angel!
A month after I first started dating Tristian our phone got a call from an unknown number so I picked it up. I was a little more confident than Irin. “Hi” the voice said “Tristian?” I asked “how did you know my number?” “I used a phone book and I wanted to know if you wanted to meet my family tonight?” he said. I was unsure but he persuaded me so I headed over to his house.
I was kind of scared but I used his directions and hoped I had the right house. It was a big house and it looked like they had lived here a very long time it was surrounded by forest and it looked like a modern castle. It was a beautiful house. I knocked on the door and Tristian appeared. he welcomed me in and I followed him into an open space lounge with leather sofas. It seemed all his family were in there. He was the youngest and he had two older sisters and an older brother. His mother was very beautiful and his whole family looked like they wanted answers. “Aria, I hate to make you come for interrogation but do you mind if we ask some questions? We can do other stuff afterwards it’s just my family want to ask you something” I nodded. I didn’t know what to say. Tristian kissed me on the cheek and led me to the chair. I was a bit scared about what they wanted to know. “Aria, I’m Mabel,” his mother said. “We have a secret and I believe you do to,” she said. I nodded in response uneasy about where this conversation was going. “Is yours like mine?” I asked Tristian nodded. “But I don’t understand how yours could be like mine I couldn’t… unless you’re…” I backed away quickly but Tristian grabbed me and said “we won’t hurt you” he said. I believed him but I didn’t know how they knew so I asked “how did you know?” “We could sense you but only slightly not as strong as we can sense other people like us.” I realized “that’s because I am not all like you”
