Mom,

Today is a special day for you, a day you deserve the recognition that you rarely receive. You do so many things for me, and I know I often forget to express my gratitude. But, don't think the great things you do are unheard or unseen.

You're someone very important to me. When I'm upset or something is bothering me, I know I can come to you. You're the person who encourages me to follow my dreams, no matter how little or stupid they are. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have pursued writing, something I immensely love and enjoy to do. When I'm a mother, I want to encourage my children like you encourage me.

You've given so much up for me. It may be as little as the last piece of cake, or something bigger like a hobby you adore. I know, to some people that may be a little thing. Those people don't understand. You do these things without a second thought about yourself. Not everyone is selfless enough to give up some of the things you have. That's an amazing characteristic that many mother's behold. When I'm a mother, I want to be as selfless as you.

No one is perfect, neither you or me. We all have our flaws. You love me even when I'm being annoyingly unbearable, the same going for me with you. These flaws just build character and make the best traits in a person even grander. When I'm a mother, I want to appreciate my children's flaws like you appreciate mine.

You know how to make people laugh, no matter how embarrassing it may be. From chasing down children trying to make me friends, to hugging me in front of my entire class. Yes, I might feel extremely embarrassed at the time you're doing so, but in the end, it's kind of hilarious. You'll text me using terrible slang that was never actually a thing, or send me gif after gif that have absolutely no meaning. You know how to make me laugh, even on my worst days. When I'm a mother, I want to make my children laugh as much as you make me, even if I make myself look utterly stupid.

Lately, things have been pretty hard. We've all been facing our own problems, some worse than others. I know, mine definitely aren't the worst, but you still treat them equally as important as the rest. You make sure to take note of things such as my behaviour and facial expressions on top of everything else. Even at my hardest times, it's great to know that there's someone who truly cares about what I'm going through. When I'm a mother, I want to be as caring as you.

Yeah, I suck at this sentimental stuff. I feel utterly cheesy right now. Also, bloody cheap since this present costs me absolutely nothing. I had considered hiring a pool boy, but that probably costs a lot and we don't own a pool. My next idea was a male stripper, but I don't think dad would really appreciate that.

Through this short wrote up, I want you to know how important you are to me. There's so many things that I could also write about, but that'd take ages to finish. You're an amazing, selfless, caring person, and I love you more than anything.
