TUESDAY MARCH 25TH 1997 ; 9:15 AM
Tuesday March 25th, the day Niall returned to school from being absent for a week and a half. Harry still hadn't given up, and when he saw the soft tuffs of blonde hair make its way up the school stairs, he was glad he was strong enough to wait.
He will admit that "stalking" Niall like he has is not his best idea yet but at a time such as this he didn't know who to turn to. His sister would shut him down at the first syllable of Niall's name and his broken mother couldn't remember what she had for lunch twenty minutes ago much less a blonde lad she used to babysit. Harry had no idea what he was turning to or why he was becoming so desperate to make Niall notice him again, all he knew was that he had to get Niall to be at least a bit comfortable with him like old times.
More than anything, Harry missed the old times. Nothing would be the same but the male would be happy as hell if it even came close. But as much as it hurt Harry to not be close to Niall like he used to, it hurt him even more knowing he hurt him whenever he came near. Harry spent the one and a half week of Niall being gone calling himself selfish for not taking into consideration how Niall felt. The poor lad looked more terrified than anything whenever Harry came within a 2 foot radius.
But Harry couldn't help himself, he never could. He kept telling himself he'd be more careful and more aware of Niall's feelings every time he approached him but being that close to Niall messed him up. The way Niall's cheeks turned a different shade of pink or red whenever Harry spoke made goosebumps rise to Harry's skin and Niall had no idea. Just a simple bat of his eyelashes or the innocent pool of blue in his eyes made Harry want to corrupt him like old times. Harry was always teasing Niall about how innocent and small he was and Niall secretly used to love it.
But as times change, people try hard to forget and that's all Niall was trying to do when Harry made everything so much worse.
so when Niall rushed through the school doors, Harry was hanging back in the parking lot against his black car with his arms crossed over his chest. He let out a soft grunt, pushed off the car and slipped back into his car silently.
In the passengers side sat a note, crumpled up with various pen scribbles along the front and back. It wasn't the neatest, but Harry had stayed up for hours trying to write the perfect note to explain himself to Niall, and that was as good as it would get from the tall boy.
And as the day dragged on, Harry became even more nervous and excited to see the blonde lad again, so when he walked (ran) out of the school doors the minute the last bell rang, his heart nearly leaped from his mouth as he scrambled to exit the car. The lanky male got his foot caught on the seat belt somehow and ended up with his hands on the pavement, grumbling with his eyebrows furrowed. He made it up, dusting off his shirt before he glanced down at the note in his hand, pursing his lips at it as if it was mocking him.
He had to be fast, he knew that. For such a short male, Niall could walk pretty fast, but Harry knew he could catch up. so, with quiet steps and a raging heart, he jogged behind Niall a bit, a few feet away from him as he made a beeline away from the front of the school. Niall kept his head hung low as he muttered soft things to himself, until Harry said his name.
"Niall." He rasped, stopping abruptly as Niall came to a complete halt in front of him. "I don't want to talk this time, I just wanna give you something." The letter felt like a thirty pound dumbbell in his large hand, weighted with meaningful words and a small present he kept all the years to remind him of Niall, his best friend.
