Chapter 7 ~ Safe?

Jessie crawled back in bed and I joined her. We needed a day to relax after all we have been up for awhile. I cuddled up close to her holding her tightly. She felt so right in my arms. She looked up at me and smiled before drifting off to sleep I did the same. When I woke up I carefully and quietly slipped away from Jessie to make her and I something to eat.

that's odd. I said to myself reaching the bottom of the stairs nobody was out in the living or dinning room. I checked every room in the house. nobody was to be found except for Jessie. I checked the bathrooms and dresser drawers and noticed that everything was gone no clothes no nothing.

had they left? without us? I said to myself

"THUMP.."

the noise came from the bottom of the stairs I said to myself before leaving the second floor I grabbed my crossbow from Jessie's room were I had kept it

I walked down the stairs ever so carefully making no noise at all except from a squeak from the stairs every now and then. I looked left then right the front door was wide open.

a walker came from the hallway and two from the living room.

so they left us.. I said to myself

I shot the three walkers.

and sprinted back up the stairs to get Jessie I had her in my arms bridal style and when I walked by the window I saw a brief image of what was outside. walkers were all over the field the barn was on fire and thousands of walkers were surrounding the barn and house.

Jessie woke up

"hey ba..." she trailed off noticing what I was looking at.

she screamed but before she could I covered her mouth.

"shh" I said "we have to get out."

I told her

she nodded and I crept down the stairs

and before we got outside I told her to close her eyes she obeyed and we walked out into the swarm of walkers.

occasionally I would shoot one or two but I kept running not turning back.

I had to get Jessie safe into the car.

Walkers surrounded us. We were closed in.. surrounded.
