SCOTT:

"Esther!" I yelled down the stairs. My mouth had been fixed into a permanent smile for what felt like days, but when I looked at the clock I realised I'd only been awake an hour.

"Yeah?" I heard her call back up to me from the entrance hall.

"What should I wear!?"

She didn't reply for a moment, and I was about to yell her name again, even more obnoxiously this time, until I heard the deliberate thuds of her footsteps traipsing up the wooden stairs.

"Scott, you're going to an insignificant little record store downtown, not the Grammy's," she informed me curtly scanning the array of clothing items scattered around the floor of my wardrobe. "Wear anything!"

"Fine, i'll wear this," I smirked, proudly displaying the mismatched singlet and basketball shorts I already had on. She raised an eyebrow at me. "Or maybe the giraffe costume I wore for Halloween last year!"

"Scott," she warned.

"Wait, no! How about just my birthday suit?" I grinned, cocking my head and looking at her seductively.

She scoffed.

"I'm sure Mitch would like that, but somehow I don't think that's a good idea."

"What do you mean Mitch would like that," I inquired, "I highly doubt he wants me to show up at his work in the nude."

"That boy practically pines after you," Esther laughed. "Honestly I don't think he'd be opposed!"

"Esther!" I exclaimed, blushing a bright shade of crimson and moving to gather up my discarded clothes. "Just because he's gay doesn't mean he wants to see every boy naked."

"I'm not saying he wants to see every boy naked," she grinned. "I'm saying he wants to see you naked."

"Stop, Estherrrr," I cringed. "He does not!"

"You should see the way he looks at you... but alright," she said in defeat, before rummaging through my closet and expertly pulling out a burnt orange fringe jacket and some denim straight leg jeans. "Wear this, and those brown leather boots downstairs. I'm sure you can figure out what top to wear underneath."

Esther turned on her heel and left me, frankly a little overwhelmed. There was no way Mitch liked me like that, was there? We're just friends, always have been...

MITCH:

The store was busier than I'd ever seen it. I'd spent the past half hour lining the shelves right at the front of the little shop with Scott's vinyl, under the supervision of my boss, and now the people were flooding in. There were dozens of young people floating in and out of the isles but the one vinyl they were all looking for was Scott's. Scott's social media manager had been plastering the exclusive limited edition vinyl all over Twitter and Instagram, so it was no surprise everyone wanted to get their hands on it. I'd managed to persuade my boss to let me buy one the minute they had come in that morning, because I knew there wouldn't be any left by the end of the day.
