MITCH:

Wow. I was finally here, back in Texas. Just through those doors sat like thirty of my high school classmates. I wondered what they all looked like now. I wondered if I'd even recognise some of them! The anticipation was killing me. I took a deep breath, fixed that one piece of hair that was always misbehaving and pushed open the restaurant door.

Immediately I saw them all - the place had been completely hired out and a large banner was hung across the wall welcoming us all back. The room was already really busy already so no one noticed me come in. I scoured the room looking for even one person that I could go talk to. I wanted to find Nicole - she had done such a good job organising this whole thing, the decorations looked great and everyone seemed to be having fun already, but then again, when was one of Nicole's parties ever not great. I remembered spending nights at her place, trying to scare each other with ghost stories out by the campfire and other times when I'd raid her makeup collection when no one else was around.

As I was reminiscing about some of Nicole's legendary high school parties, I suddenly heard someone behind me.

"Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi?!" A high pitched voiced squealed, "Is that you?"

I whirled around, recognising her distinct voice in an instant.

"Kirstin Taylor Maldonado!" I laughed, and she grabbed me, pulling me in for a hug. Her loosely curled hair was dyed a dusty shade of blonde and she was wearing high heels that made her only an inch or so shorter than me. I remembered her scent perfectly as we hugged and it brought back so many high school memories.

"Wow, it's so good to see you Mitchy!" she beamed as we pulled out of the hug and examined each other after so long apart, "You look so different!"

I laughed, adjusting my sweeping fringe.

"Yeah, good thing I got rid of that horrific hairstyle I had junior year right?"

"No I thought it was cute!" She replied jokingly, "Your haircut was the reason I ever dated you in the first place."

"Shut up!" I smiled back at her, and punching her playfully on the arm. It was so funny to remember the days when we used to date. It felt just like old times again, and I was comforted knowing Kirstie was still the same bubbly and excitable girl as she was in high school.

We chatted for ages, reminiscing about everything that had happened to us in high school and catching up for lost time. I tried to avoid talking about myself as much as possible seeing as I hadn't exactly had the most successful life thus far, but Kirstie was insistent - she wanted to know everything about me and how I'd changed. So reluctantly I had to tell her how my music career hadn't got off to the best start, but Kirstie being Kirstie was obviously so supportive of me anyway. She reminded me that we all still young and there was plenty of time for us to flourish.

Kirstin told me how she had just got ENGAGED, and that she had two dogs with her now fiancée Jeremy. I couldn't be happier for her! But although this was like the best news ever, I couldn't help feeling a pang of jealousy that she'd already found someone so special - 'the one'. I'd only dated one guy since we left high school and it was a pretty serious thing. We dated for over a year, but when we broke up I was devastated. I refused to eat for days and spent months just cooped up in my room, not even going to work or seeing my friends. Thankfully I finally got over him, yet I hadn't dated anyone again. I think I was just scared of getting my heart broken...

As I was excitedly congratulating Kirstie, I suddenly felt a large hand rest on my shoulder, and a deep voice behind me.

"Mitch?"

The man sounded confused but at the same time amused as he looked me up and down. I spun around, finding myself staring straight into the chest of none other than America's biggest star, Scott Hoying. Embarrassed at my shortness, and feeling almost starstruck, I took a step back in order to lock eyes with the tall blonde.

"Scott!" I fumbled over my words. Omg he was even more attractive in person. "Wow.. um hi!"

Good one Mitch, way to make a good impression. I felt my cheeks turning a flushed red colour. Hang on a minute, Scott remembered me? Like for real? I looked so different to the way I did at Martin High, I'm surprised he even knew it was me.

"Hey! It's been so long man, you look great!" Scott continued, gesturing towards my outfit. "How are you?"

Are you kidding me? Suddenly I completely forgot Kirstie was stood right behind me. I immediately became absorbed in every word that came out of Scott's mouth; he really was an ugly duckling story that's for sure. His perfectly gelled blonde hair stood up straight on the top of his head and his black leather jacket stretched over his broad shoulders in just the right way - subtly showing off his physique. He smiled down at me, his eyes full of intrigue and nostalgia, and I stared right back, attempting to take in the fact that this guy used to be my best friend. Scott had a thin layer of scruff growing around his chiseled jawline and his brilliantly blue eyes were glinting under the yellow chandelier above him. Oh no. I felt my stomach knot and my heart seemed to skip a beat. In that moment I forgot to reply, my mind went completely blank as I got lost in his eyes.

He was beautiful.

Mitch, REPLY. Idiot, you have to reply to his question!  I snapped out of my trance as Scott raised an eyebrow expectantly.

"I- I'm great."
