You reach for it and accepted the entry of the voice to your ear, while the doctor pulled out a long needle from his bag and you quickly looked away from the deadly tool, shivering as it winked deadly from under the light.
"Well hello. Aokiji my man!" You greet him, pulling the bear with the arm across his chest, who was attempting to slide from your wrist but even he did, your legs are circling him and holding him firmly in place,
"What's up?"
"Ararara," he started, in the language of laziness. "Akaino has been bugging me lately about your situation with...uh..what was his name again...ah, that guy with pink feathers. Thought I'd finally make the call."
By the mention of Akaino asking about the situation, you press you lips into a firm line. You didn't know which bin you sorted Akaino into, but he was still a respectable figure. As part of the Marines, he was unshakable in the front of justice with the will and power of a monster. Technically speaking, he was indeed a monster incarnate, and you considered yourself a special case of monstrosity.
"Ah, Akaino! How's the old man holding up? He really should be allowed a break. Working overtime can really mess with the brain. Well, at least I'm experienced in that field of injustice." You laugh, trying to lighten his bundled nerves flat.
Aokiji was himself as always, laid back and lazy to Akaino's order.
"Ararara. He wanted to know about the warlord's whereabouts."
Your main responsibility comes back to mind. Doflamingo had been flaring troubles for the marine and you had been given the task to confine him, given your authority, is responsible for his house arrest until things settle back to the average line. It was the perfect excuse to be with him, despite demands concerning the tower system to strengthen military defense.
Hot sweat begins roll from your temples, as if Akaino himself was standing beside you in his scorching presence. You runsack your brain with answers or in this case, any sort of justification to help you escape a closing cage. You were bed-ridden for days! You wouldn't know what Doffy had been up to. And oh! What a mighty waste of time! The things you would have accomplished in those three days. You would have finished the Buster Sword and completed a lower system of attack towers to line the Baron Peninsula to keep the pirates busy.
Or in those three days. you would have spent more time with Doflamingo! You would have planned romantic advances but that wouldn't be effective anyway since one has yet to work—or better yet, you would have snuggled against him while he read, which is literally one of the most precious moments you can think with the dangerous man. You would have done things that are wasteful but still worth everything such as making a batch of chocolates for Doffy.
But back to the order of business balancing life and death, you turn to Trafalgar Law and mouth to him... 'Have you seen Doffy?'
He responds with a spoken question. "Luffy?"
You mouth again, biting on the 'D'. "DOFFY! You add, "The most beautiful being in this planet!"
He tilts his head away and points out the window. Apparently, the pink bird had decided a nice stroll across the sea, while you were sleeping. To this realization, you are boiling in anger crooking to shatter thoughts of forgiveness. Loyal to justice, words flowed like water past gritted teeth. "He is not here."
A wave of scalding heat pulls your ear from the phone and you had let go of the bear as well. Akaino must have been overhearing the conversation, or was with Aokiji when he made the call. The phone was overheating even from it's long distance from the headquarters.
"Not in this room I mean!" You say in a joking voice, saving yourself for the meantime, your life flipping to critical survival mode. Damn it!
The next voice on the line confirmed your thoughts. It was Akaino. "I thought you'd handle this job well, but looking at it, you're failing."
You put the phone on loudspeaker. "Relax. I'll properly discipline him when he returns. Count on me Admiral."
"Yes, deal with him when he returns. Make sure pound it into his head, that justice never fails."
You remember what Doflamingo always told you about justice.
The ones on top decide justice.
But knowing your fellow marine officers, they are merely fighting the war against pirates to try and bring peace and serve true justice. Their ideals are not wrong, it is their methods. Actually, you agree to this harsh methods but sometimes it saddens you, like the events in Marine Ford. Well no, admirals are still pawns, compared to the REAL dogs.
"Roger that," you reply before a mischievous grins crawls up your face. "Hey Akaino, get this."
"What?"
"How come you're so HOT, but you don't have a girlfriend?" You snicker. You feel Trafalgar shaking his head as you laugh into your hand. You and the bear share a high-five but you two stare with wide eyes at the phone melting until it was but wax on the table.
At least you had established a close enough relation with him that he wouldn't crystallize you into lava from just a small joke.
Akaino's strength isn't so far from yours but he knows how mundane words can be twisted from the web truth and lies to a macabre assault... that's the only thing you are uncomfortable with. He'll have you flambed and roasted to smithereens over a hot caffe latte when he sees fit.
When that bird flies home, you want to make sure it won't be flying out of his cage. Trafalgar spelled it out for you when he pointed out...DEATH.

And I had always thought to myself, only a violent partner can survive Doflamingo. More like, the perfect package of a person can. I dunno what I'm saying anymore! I think the Marine admirals were cool. That's it—AND this is how I imagine the relationship of a loyally dedicated Marine and an evil charismatic pirate. You might be reminded of Garp.
