Maine clung to Richard as if there's no tomorrow. She was on fire and she could not get enough of him. The first time that his tongue touched hers she had almost fainted from the sheer intensity of emotions that went through her. The urgency of Richard’s lips against hers overwhelmed her. She just took and took whatever he gave her and she gave back everything that she could. She never knew that a kiss could be like this. This was even more than she had expected in her wildest dreams. Their kiss was like slow burning fire that was slowly increasing in intensity threatening to consume her whole. His silky tongue had continued to explore the secrets of her mouth and her hands had slowly crept up to wound themselves into his hair. She had felt his hands glide down her back and slip inside her blouse. Maine moaned against his mouth as she felt the heat of his hand against her bare back. She wanted more. If RJ took her now under this oak tree she would gladly give herself to him.
Richard finally broke the kiss and Maine instantly missed the feel of his mouth against hers. He rested his forehead against hers as they both panted heavily trying to catch their breaths.
“Maine” Richard whispered. She knew that he was going to apologize.
Maine brought her fingers to Richard’s lips to stop him from saying anything more. “Shh” she whispered. She did not want to hear his apologies. He had nothing to apologize about. They held each other as they waited for their heartbeats to settle down. The rain finally slowed down to a drizzle and the sky was starting to brighten up again.
“I think it’s time for us to go.” he whispered as the rain finally stopped. Maine did not want to leave the bubble that they have created but she knew that they had to get back to reality inevitably. Richard released her and bent down to grab the basket and the blanket. He then reached out and took her hand and they slowly made their way back to the villa.
Back at the villa, they immediately headed towards their room to change as the down pour left them completely soaked from head to toe. Maine went to the bathroom first as Richard was left in the bedroom to contemplate on what just happened between them. He headed towards the window to stare at the beautiful scenery outside. He was getting quite nervous as the kisses that he has shared with Maine were getting too intense for his own comfort. He has made a promise that he would honor her decision to have the marriage only in papers but he is finding out much to his dismay how difficult it was to follow through.
Maine finally emerged from the bathroom newly showered and freshly dressed. She was wearing a flower printed sundress that reminded Richard of flower fields during spring time. Her delicate feet were enclosed in wedge sandals that had silk ribbons tied around her ankles.
“Your turn” Maine said with a smile.
After both of them had finished freshening up Richard took Maine out for a drive in the Mercedes convertible that he had rented out during their entire stay in Italy. Maine kept asking where they were going but Richard just kept his mouth shut.
After driving for thirty minutes they arrived at a small vineyard that was situated just outside Volterra. Maine looked at Richard with a perplexed expression on her face as if asking what was going on but he only responded with a small smile. They got out of the car and headed towards the front door. Richard knocked softly and an old woman opened the door for them. Richard spoke to the woman in Italian and Maine had no idea what they were talking about. She watched as the woman responded to him, a smile lighting up her wrinkled face as she invited them inside.
Once inside Richard leaned over to whisper to her an explanation. “This vineyard is owned by the Bianchi family. They are one of the oldest families here who still make wine the old fashioned way. I wanted to show you how wine was made before, way before the huge companies got in the way.”
