Chapter 1

Well I'm Emma, Emma Smith. I just moved to North Carolina 2 weeks ago. I was really nervous for my first day of school today. What if people didn't like me? What if no one wanted to be my friend? I was really popular back in California, but here I'm a nobody. It was 6:30 am when I woke up to get ready to to go to school. I put on jeans and a white pink sweatshirt. By 7:00 am I was ready to leave. Since it was the first day my parents were driving me to school. I had butterflies in my stomach the entire way to school. We soon arrived and I walked into my new school. When I got there I had to walk to my homeroom. My homeroom teacher was Mr. Adams. I sat in homeroom with no one to talk to. One girl with blonde hair said "Hey I'm Lily." I simply replied "Hey I'm Emma." "So I'm guessing you're new here?" Lily stated. I said "Yep, my first day." She asked for my schedule to see if we had any classes together. Turns out we had 6/8 classes together. Lily told me she we walk with me to all of my classes. I was relieved. I didn't want people to think I was a loner. The bell rang and Lily and I headed for first period, gym. We had to get changed into uniforms, they were so ugly. Lily waited for me and we headed into the gym. There were about 15 girls and 10 guys in my gym class. Everyone greeted me. We didn't do much except running. I ran with Lily and we talked the entire period. "Where did you come from?" She asked. I said "California." "Nice" she said. Before I knew it first period was over. My next period was math. I quickly got changed and put on some perfume. Then Lily and I walked to math class. When I walked in everyone treated me like they knew me, even though they didn't. My math teacher, Mrs. Moyer told me I could sit in the middle of Lily and this boy named Hayes. Oh my god, Hayes was really cute, like I mean really cute. I didn't really pay attention during math, I just drew random stuff in my notebook. Lily passed me a note that said: Do you even notice that Hayes is staring at you?!?! I wrote back: I had no clue. I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw him staring at me. I just smiled at him. I think I had a little crush on him even though I never even talked to him. Math went so slow and it was really boring. Thankfully the bell rang and Lily and I started walking to science class. I felt someone tap my shoulder. It was Hayes...
He smiled and said "So you're new here huh?" I could feel my cheeks get bright red. I replied "Yup." He asked where I was headed to next. I told him science. It turns out he was in the same class as me. We walked up to science together. When I walked in my science teacher told me I could sit next to Hayes. I just smiled. In my head I thought yes. By the end of science I felt like my arm was going to fall off. We had to take so many notes. I couldn't help but notice that Hayes was staring at me. I looked at him and smiled. I thought that maybe he liked me too, but he probably didn't, who would like me?
Science went sooooo slow. Finally it was over. After science I went to lunch. I was screaming on the inside when I found out Hayes had the same lunch as me, so did Lily. At lunch I sat with Hayes and his friends, Lily joined us too. Hayes said "You're name is Emma, right?" I said "right." While we were eating I heard Lily whisper to Hayes: "Are you going to ask her out?" I tried to keep calm when I heard him say "Not yet." Lunch was only 30 mins long. I've only known Hayes for like 1 hour and I'm already in love with him. Whenever I was around him I smiled like an idiot.
-END OF SCHOOL DAY-
It was the end of the day and I was at my locker getting ready to walk home. I was walking out of school and Hayes came running after me screaming "Emma wait!!!" I stopped and looked behind me. He asked if I wanted him to walk me home I said yea sure! He said "Where do you live?" I said "Right around the corner" and pointed to my house. He said "So you are the new people that moved into my neighborhood?" For a minute I was speechless. This was great. I lived right next to Hayes. Omg. I said "Yes." And giggled. He asked if I wanted to come over to study for our science test. Obviously I said yes. I told him I would be over in a minute. I told my parents where I was going and they were fine with it cause I would be right across the street. I went upstairs to my room and fixed my hair and makeup. Then I ran outside to the Griers' house. Hayes answered the door and said "Hey!" I simply replied "Hey!" We walked upstairs to his room and we just talked. I asked if we should start studying. He said "Actually I didn't really want you to come over here to study...
