11 - Special Operations Squad

*Two Years Later*

"Levi" I whispered to my sleepy boyfriend as he snored lightly next to me.

I loved seeing Levi sleeping, because when he was, he was in his most vulnerable state. He looked so innocent with his messy hair everywhere and his expression completely relaxed. It was such a rare and beautiful sight. 

"Hey, Levi" I said, a little louder this time.

I raised my hand and I was about to punch him in the chest but as my hand was moving through the air Levi grabbed my wrist, taking me by surprise.
He opened one sleepy eye to look at me and frowned.
I smiled at him sarcastically and he pulled me down so that I was lying on top of him. He put his arm over my back as if to hold me there.

"Go back to sleep, brat" he mumbled.

"It's like, mid-day" I whispered.

"I don't care"

I smiled to myself, feeling lucky to have a luxury like this in such a shitty world. Just as I was getting comfortable, a young recruit burst into our room. He was small and skinny and he looked terrified.

"Jesus" Levi cursed. "Ever heard of knocking?"

"I'm sorry sir!" The boy squeaked. Then he looked over at me and his face went beetroot red. It was only now that I remembered I was in nothing but my underwear and I yelped and fell off the bed.

"What do you want?" Levi grunted, sounding bored.

"Commander Erwin wishes to see you both sir! In his office"

Levi sent him away and peered over the side of the bed, where I was on the floor dying of embarrassment.

He raised his eyebrow. "What's up with you?"

"A recruit has just seen me in my underwear Levi!"

"Oh shut up, you're beautiful anyway"

"That's not the point, moron!"

*30 Minutes Later*

Levi and I got dressed into our uniforms. We had started sharing a room around a year ago, and we both agreed that it was a very good job nobody slept next door, because they wouldn't get any sleep with the ruckus we made.

"What do you think Erwin wants?" I asked my boyfriend.

"I don't know" Levi admitted as he smoothed over his hair. "Hopefully we're going out in the field. It's been so long"

"You're right. It's been a while. You don't think he'd put us in different squads do you?"

"I'd like to see him try" Levi chuckled slightly. "Anyway, he knows we work well together. I'd wager we're two of the best he's got"

I shrugged on my jacket and Levi snaked his arm around my waist as we walked out of the door, pulling me close to him. Over the past couple of years, Levi and I had become truly inseparable. Everyone in the camp knew that where ever one of us was, the other was never far behind.  

We trundled down the endless corridors of the building until we eventually reached the Commanders Office. I was about to knock but Levi just walked straight in as if it was his own home. Typical.

The office was pretty huge, with embroidered carpets and old oil lamps that provided light at nighttime. Erwin was staring at some letters and files on his desk as we walked in. He looked up when he heard the door open.
