Breaking the Ice

Chapter Four

Everyone except for Mark and I are fast asleep. I look at the wounds that I inflicted on him and frown. My wolf may be proud of the work she did, but I certainly am not. I try not to go for violence, but when he jumped me he also put my sister in danger just as well so I felt no need to try to hold back. So I let my anger control me "I really need to stop doing that."

If I don't do something now he could get infected. I mean they are pretty serious considering they are third-degree burns. And since it was caused by silver his wolf won't be able to heal fast enough, it will almost or be as slow as when a human heals naturally. I sigh and quickly shift into my wolf causing Mark to flinch in fear after what happened. I rolled my eyes as he carefully watched my every move very carefully. When I made it over to him he flinched and try to move away from me. I rolled my eyes again "If I wanted to kill you I would have done it earlier when I had the chance." He narrowed his eyes me "Then what are you doing?" I looked at his arm them moved my eyes to the spot in front of me. He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion, but slowly and cautiously he brings his arm in front of me. Then I lick the entire part where his burn was and it started to heal up instantly leaving no mark behind.

Then I did the same with his leg, his other arm, and his neck. His eyes and mouth were completely wide by the end of it. I smiled pleased with my work before changing back. "H-how'd y-you do that?" I shrugged "I don't know all I know is my normal wolf form saliva has the power to heal any type of wound including those that are infected with silver. I found that out one time when Reina got hurt. She had a scraped elbowed and was crying so I licked it, while I was in wolf form to try and comfort her and it suddenly began to heal. So I don't care much about how or why that is just as long as I can do it and protect Reina is all I really care about. So as long as you don't get in my way again we should be just fine." He sighed "You know something princess I hate how you and Erik have such a knack for being a leader and don't care much for it. But I, on the other hand, have been studying for it all my life just like being a warrior. And then Erik shows up and he's got such a natural instinct for it just like dad when he was younger."

I chuckled and he growled at me "It's not funny." I smile at him looking at him sideways "I'm not laughing at you. I find it funny at how you're jealous of your little brother when you should want to protect him with your life just like how I am with Reina. But instead, you're sitting here wallowing in your self-pity. To me, that's pretty stupid so I couldn't help but laugh. I'm sorry it was highly inappropriate for me. But you should seriously think of it because it's not fair to him or you. You are who you are born to be. So what if you weren't born to be the best warrior? We are far from home now you can be whoever you want to be now. You don't have to impress your father anymore. Just be yourself and everyone here would feel so much safer with you and wouldn't feel as homesick as they do right now. Ain't that right Erik?" Mark looked confused and then Erik sat up from underneath his sleeping bag that apparently everyone's parents luckily put inside of our bags for them inside of their bags for us.

He ran his hand through his dark hair "How'd you know I was up?" I smiled "Because I heard your heartbeat become faster as I was talking just a minute ago." They both looked shocked then Erik smiled and I felt my own heartbeat pick up. Well he's definitely going to be a complete heartthrob when he gets older I can already tell. "Now that's impressive since we are trained to be able to slow are heartbeat naturally and you we able to detect a small fluctuate for just a milo sec. When even my well-trained brother who's been doing this for years weren't even able to detect. Now that is pretty impressive your majesty." I rolled my eyes "Yeah whatever. Now since your up why don't you and your brother have a heart to heart chat while I on the hand am going go to sleep. He smirked causing knots to form in my stomach "Yes ma'am it would be my pleasure to." I rolled my eyes as I walked over to where Reina was sleeping next to Sarah. I climbed into my sleeping bag and curled up next to her. Then I wrapped my hand around her before closing my eyes and going to sleep.

Unknown POV:

I am so annoyed my group of the hunters association and I get to chase after a bunch of kids that escaped their grasp. We should be out on the front lines of a battle that's what we trained for not hunting down kids out here in the freezing ass cold and snow. I'm mean we're chasing them down by car, which even I know a werewolf can easily outrun in their sleep. My men also have a boat out there on the water so when we do get them or when if they happen to be near the almost frozen water we can get them. We aren't allowed to go back home until they are found if they actually do exist and are out here.

My twelve-year-old son, Sam Hunter, is with me because I don't go anywhere without him even if it's a mission so he's used to it and I use it as more time to train him in my ways of the hunter. Sam has short brown hair like his mother and his mother's soft warm brown, but he has my face and nose. Sam's mother died when he was at the age of five. A werewolf attacked her so that's why we became a part of the hunters association to get revenge on that wolf.

Or should I say that's why I came and just brought him along with me since his mother ain't around to look after him anymore? So I promise I shall bring these kids in and start looking for the one who killed my wolf so I can pay them back tenfold by killing them right back for what they did to my wife.
