Breaking the Ice

Chapter Five

I woke up with the sun on my face for the first time in a while. Because we've always have been sleeping through the sunlight. It felt nice against my skin I smiled as I slowly opened my eyes. When I woke up the first thing I noticed was Erik's gold eyes. They always seem to attract my attention every time I see him. They are so unique and absolutely stunning. They always seem to draw me in causing me to lose all of my senses.

He smirked causing the spell on me to be completely broken. "Sleep well-sleeping beauty," he said. I looked around and noticed that other than the two of us are here everyone is gone. Even Sarah and Reina have seemed to have disappeared from the camping site, but their sleeping bags were still on the ground. I sat up so quick I suddenly got really dizzy I had to close my eyes because I felt like I was going to fall back down. I opened my eyes again once the dizziness has subsided. Erik's face is so close I could tell his eyes had silver flecks. Making his eyes just that much more addicting. It was really amazing since I've never seen anything quite like it before.

My breath hitched in my throat and I backed away from him slightly. Putting some space between his worried expression and myself. I still didn't feel the clarity I was looking for though. "Are you okay?" His worried expression made me feel so subconscious. Is my hair a complete mess and does my breath smell bad. God, why did I just wake up I probably look completely terrible? I nodded "Yeah I'm fine I just got a little dizzy when I sat up that's all." He sighed in relief "That's good. Then maybe this will teach you not give more than half of your food to your sister, while no one is looking." I gasped and trained my graze to the ground. "I thought no one noticed." He chuckled "Well luckily for you I was the only one to notice. So answer me this why did you do it?" I sighed and looked into his beautiful eyes and felt a need to tell him the truth.

"I'm just making sure she gets enough food so she's not hungry. Besides she needs more than I do." He rolled his eyes as he shook his head "Yes you do need it. You need the energy to shift and to run. So tell me honestly why did you do it." His eyes held mine compelling me to hold it. And I sighed "I'm taking care of my sister making sure she has enough to eat. Is that such a bad thing?" He sat back on his heels "No it's not, but you shouldn't be giving up most of your portion of food when you need it just as much or maybe even more so." He gets up and my heart instantly sinks as he walks towards where he was sitting and grabs something. Then he walks over to me "Here." He says handing me something.

I look down at it to realize it's food. I blinked a couple of times trying to access if it's actually real. He smiled "It's this morning meal I saved it for you. Without any portion taking off." I smiled at him "Thank you." He rubbed the back of his neck as he smiled "You're welcome so you better hurry up and eat it before it gets any colder." I nodded as I dug into it. Even though it was slightly cold it still tasted amazing on my empty stomach. I looked at him to see he's watching me eat with a smile on his face. I felt a blush creep its way onto my face. I feel completely uncomfortable with him starting at me as I eat. Then again I don't like people watching me as I eat, to begin with.

I finally finished my food very awkwardly, of course, that's why I'm happy when I finally finished it. I look up at him to see him smiling causing me to blush even harder since he just sat there watching me eat. I handed him the plate "Ummm thank you." I said softly looking down at the ground. He chuckled then patted my head causing me to look up at him. He had a big grin on his face "Good girl." I scrunched my nose in disgust even though on the inside I was incredibly happy. My heart was beating faster as my heart was swelling with joy. "I'm not a dog," I said with a pout on my face. He laughed and it was the most incredible thing I've ever heard. I could never get tired of it no matter how many times I hear it. "You're right I'm sorry you're a werewolf...so you're an even bigger form of a dog," I growl playfully at him and he laughs moving away from my grasps.

I jump up and quickly shift and pinning him down to the ground. He smirks then shifts himself throwing me off balance then moves from me. He gets into the playful wolf stance where his butts in the air and his upper torso is flat against the ground. I roll my eyes and started to chase after him. It was so much fun I'd forgotten what it was like to have fun. I was either too busy with alpha/ princess training or looking after Reina. And this happened so I've had no room for fun. My heart swelled in joy as we ran chasing each other around and trying to capture each other. His wolf jumped on me pinning me to the ground.

I smiled as a devious plan formed into my head. I smiled as I rubbed my head under his chin. He looked shocked then his wolf closed his eyes as he purred at the affection. I smirked as I quickly shifted back to my normal self-allowing me to slip out from under him. I laughed as I ran away from him. Suddenly I felt someone grab my hand causing me to turn around to see Erik's smiling face just before we fell to the ground. I know for a fact Erik swiped my feet causing me to fall with him landing on top of me. How do you ask? Well that's quite simple he put his foot behind me so when I turned around it would cause me to fall with on the ground. I know because I was taught that move before so I know it pretty well in fact.

I groaned as I looked up at him as he held both of my wrists so I couldn't move or try anything. He was smiling as I glared at him "That was totally uncalled for," I said pretending to be annoyed. But all it did was cause his smile to widened "Oh but it was." I huffed and rolled my eyes "Oh really and why is that." He smiled "Because you tried to run away from me." I rolled my eyes and would have crossed my arms over my chest if it wasn't for the fact he was holding them down. "That is so not a good enough reason to trip me." He smirked "Okay then what about the stunt you played earlier even though I clearly won." We heard someone clear their throat before I could comment. It was Mark and the rest of the children. Mark had a smirk on his face "Is there something going here that I should know about?"

I looked at Erik and the position we're in. I felt my cheeks go inflamed "God no...we were just playing tag. We're just friends, you weirdo." I saw Erik's jaw clenched out of the corner of my eye as Mark smiled. Before I could ask what was going on Erik got off of me as he walked back towards the camping site. "What's wrong with him? Did I do or say something wrong? I only spoke the truth?" I got up brushing off the snow that has accumulated on my back. Mark was definitely trying to hold in his laugh. "What's so funny anyway because I don't see anything." He cleared his throat "Okay now that's everyone's up let's grab our stuff and make sure everything packed up so we can leave." He said before everyone started walking to the campsite.
