Chapter 1

Percy was excited.

He was going to mount Helen's with his mom, and was going to be having a Gabe free week with his mom for company. Gabe had to go and visit his dear old mum back in England. We never even knew that Gabe had a mother much less one who was in England. She was well off so she told us to go anywhere we wanted, and she would give her private jet to go there. Mum always wanted to come here for some reason, she something about writing a paper on it's beauty though I just think the serenity reminded her of dad.

So it sucked when he ran behind a kitten only for a lady to pick both the kitten, cooing," Yes, Sonny, you can have him but you must wait. I can smell the sea on him." She also picked me up. "Boy, do you who you are, or who I am " she asked in a commanding tone. That day my life was changed for ever.

My name is Percy Jackson. I am 10 years old, live my my mom Sally Jackson and her abusive husband and my abusive step father, Gabe.
We lived in a dump of an apartment which was paid by Gabe. Mum kept telling me stuff like how nice, loyal, and caring my father was, only for me to ask " then why'd he go and get himself killed?" Silence. My words stung her, I could see it in her eyes. "Lost at sea Percy, lost at sea." How can someone be lost for 10 years? Why doesn't he save us from this mess named Gabe.
And finally, if he wasn't dead, then did he hate us?
My ADHD brain thought this over and over.
It came to the same decision from last time, the time before that... You get the point. I had to protect my mom.

In her arms, I saw her, I mean really saw her real face. I didn't care though since I helped kind grannies that lived above a lot of times, including Halloween, so...

"Hi auntie!!! My name is Percy Jackson!! How are you? Is your back paining? How about your legs? Do you need help with anything?" I quickly rambled so that she​ didn't have the time to say anything.

She looked shocked. "W-who are you child? Where are your parents?"
Percy's shine dimmed a little. "Mom is here with me but dad is missing. Mommy said he's gone missing at sea, which by definition probably means he's dead. If he isn't..." A dark look entered Percy's eyes. A look that didn't match his happy demeanor, it was something a ten year old should never have." I'll punch the day lights out of him." He said in a tone that was decisive, and ... cold. Echidna was confused, most demigods led pampered,happy lives... Suffering only at their 'glorious' quests. That's when she began to take in his clothes. The T-shirt was a deep ocean blue with no designs, but had signs of wear and tear, and some of the holes were stitched. They covered him, but barely. The shorts were no better, they were bigger than the boy, and that's when she took in a sharp breath. A ten year old with a happy-go-lucky attitude, had scars. .
