My first class was Elemental Geography. It was a class where we were supposed to learn about different cultures. It actually sounded interesting. Everything was interesting at this place. I might actually learn to love it.
Following my map, I end up in room 406. I look at the clock above the grey lockers, 5 minutes early. My old friends would always tease me about being early. A small part of me missed my guy friends but before I could dwell on the fact that I may never see them again I focus on where I was. It's time to move on.
I enter the small classroom and take a seat in the back near the window. I sit down and stare out the window.
How did things get so different so fast? When those two bastards took me that's how. I sigh loudly in frustration and anger, a little too loudly because the students around me begin to stare at me and notice the new girl. Glancing around the classroom, I find that almost everyone has taken a seat and was chatting noisily.
The bell suddenly rings signaling the start of class. A tall man in his early 30's with short brown hair enters the classroom and stands in front of the class.
"Hello, class." The teacher glances around the room until his eyes settle on me.
"Looks like we have a new student. My name is Mr. Matteson. Why don't you introduce yourself." He sticks his hands in his pockets and leans against his desk.
I stand up in awkward silence and nervously say, "Hey. My name is Sky Winters and I'm from Michigan..." I sit down eagerly and hope I don't have to talk in any of my other classes.
"Great, well I hope you all will make Sky feel very welcome." Mr. Matteson says with a smile.
Everyone's attention focuses on the teacher, which I am grateful for. If I knew I had to get up like that I'd of stayed in bed.
"Now students, we will have a little homework," Several groans echo around the class, "I know, I know. I want you to write a paper about all the four elements cultures. For most of you this will be an easy task seeing as you already know about all of the elements. You can go to the library or interview experts and just basically find any information you can. We'll go more in depth through the upcoming lessons. Any questions?" Oh great. I'm going to fail. These people have been accustomed to being an Elemental their whole lives!
A guy with curly blond hair raises his hand.
"Yes Andrew?" The teacher walks around the room handing out the instructions for the assignment.
"So this is due tomorrow?" Andrew asked.
"No it's due a week from today, and I'm expecting four different papers." I mentally roll my eyes. Seriously? I just got here!
After that the teacher went on talking about the different elements. He talked about how the Fire Nation used to believe in fighting at a young age and that your destiny was always chosen and the Water Nation believed in that everyone was free to make their own choices in life. Fire apparently in the olden days made young children at the age of 9 and up fight and become warriors. Water was in a way like the human world. People became artist and warriors, whatever they wanted to be.
The Water Nation seemed the most fascinating to me. I thought it was so cool that some water benders had the gift of healing. I want to be a water bender!
Before I knew it the bell rang for the end of class. I wanted to stay there all day learning about the different cultures, but I would have to wait.
My next class was math and was just like my other class back at my old school. Boring teacher, boring homework, boring, boring, boring! Nothing about Elementals or the different nations at all!
