The Boy of Darkness and the Girl of Light,
so far apart in this life.
Together they will forge a bond so strong,
that will never, ever be gone.
She commands attention wherever she goes,
and yet still hides in the shadows.
Beauty is not her foremost key,
but instead respect and responsibility.
Her love, her brightness, her laugh,
and her high-heels that make her as tall as a giraffe.
Life is something to be enjoyed,
but she believes it can be done without boys.
To her, it's the small things that count:
a silly note or helping hand instead of a frown.
He's just there in plain sight,
as common as the sunshine's light.
Outside he's dark and inside he's golden,
yet always a force to beholden.
He's afraid of heights, but with her he's free
to live life to the fullest and be happy.
The warrior prince he is inside
hides beneath the façade and lies.
Only she can reach behind
and see past the pain, anger, and cries.
A touch of light is all one needs
to be set from darkness and be truly seen.
Apart they are like day and night,
but together they create one time.
A touch of darkness for some mystery,
and a little light for color and glee.
The sunset is full of varying colors and shades
that all come together to make one gorgeous haze.
Life itself is a mix -
not all good, but not all walls of bricks.
You must focus on the journey, not the destination,
to get through good times, trials, and temptations.
Things and people will come and go,
but through it all, you have each other to bear and share memories and woes.
The Boy of Darkness and the Girl of Light,
to you both, may you be successful in life.
Not bountiful in things of this world,
but in the one of your own full of love and adore.
Cherish each other no matter life's plan,
and never forget to keep holding hands.
