"she lives . . . over there," he whispers to himself, gazing at the ocean.

he glances at the shore, the beauty of the waves reflecting in his eyes.

the salt from the water stings his hands as well as his lungs.

his heart beats uncontrollably, his ribs move along with each rapid beat.

"she's not like the others," he said, knowing it seemed as cliché as it is, but knowing all too well it was the truth.

he remembered being with her in the water. her eyes swirled with mystery as their hands intertwined beneath the waves.

"you have to stop loving me, it's forbidden," she said, desperately.

he only stared into her eyes, he forgot his problems, worries, and needs. all he wanted was her.

"never."

she disappeared a moment later, without a word. her presence left, but he knew she'd be back, because she always came back.

he didn't know he was dreaming; he was only wandering in the depths of his own oceans within his screaming heart.
