I smiled at the wide eyed look on Maddox when he unwrapped the Superman wrapping paper from the large box in front of him. He'd been standing on a chair, Dennison standing behind his son with his hands securely on Maddox's sides to keep the kid from falling off, and was savagely ripping away at the paper.

Maddox wiggled from side to side, clapping his hands as he turned his gray eyes to look up at Dennison and squealed, "A fishy, Daddy! For a fishy!"

Dennison grinned, nodding as his low voice mumbled something to his son. Maddox scrunched his nose, his front teeth bared in a half smile then turned back around to lunge forward to lay halfway onto the box with his arms outspread. He laid his head on the box, giggling when he could hear everyone chuckling at him.

Maddox definitely liked attention. I noticed this vast difference between him and his older brother. While Maddox was willing to put on a display for people to watch him, Eli rather stand off to the side and watch his brother do this. He was standing beside Dennison at the moment, with his arms crossed, and grinned at his younger brother.

I appreciated that Eli wasn't the typical older brother who was mean to his younger sibling. Eli genuinely catered to Maddox, and defended him in a way that was pretty damn special. Maddox, of course, loved his older brother and did anything and everything to impress him.

Like now, when Maddox squealed a happy cry at Eli to look at the box he got for his birthday. He kept tapping his little pointer finger onto the box, nodding, "Lookie, Eli! Lookie!"

Eli grinned, nodding as he hopped onto the bench beside the table and helped Maddox finish ripping off the wrapping paper.

"You have to unwrap it all the way, Squirt. Otherwise you can't see the whole thing!"

Maddox happily wiggled from side to side, clapping excitedly and then cried, "Mommy! C'mere, Mommy! C'mere! Lookie what Cousin Kale gots me!"

Thea smiled, nodding as she brushed back Maddox's dark fringe off his forehead; only for it to fall back over his eyes.

"It's wonderful, Maddox. Make sure to say thank you."

Maddox turned his gray eyes to me on the other side of Thea and beamed, "Thank you, Cousin Kale!"

I grinned, shrugging that I had help picking out that cool fish bowl of his. But it didn't seem to deter Maddox since he was now squealing wide eyed at the sea horse in a superman color print. He bounced up and down on the chair---Dennison frowning, "Careful, Squirt!" while holding onto his son a little more---then held out his sea horse to his brother.

"Superman, Eli! Superman!"

Eli wrinkled his nose, eyeing the sea horse a little before muttering that he thought Captain America was much better.

Maddox blinked, staring down at the sea horse a moment then pouted before looking up at his mother and father with his gray eyes blurring.

"Mommy..."

Thea shot Eli a look who grinned with raised brows back at her. My cousin sighed, rolling her eyes before holding the sides of her son's cheeks and smiled, "It's wonderful, Maddie! Mommy thinks it's amazing!"
