Chapter Ten

'Rolex- Teo and Ayo' goes off so I reach on the side of my bed and press dismiss on my phone. I slowly get out of bed. I know I should be happy but I know today will be eventful and tiring.

I take a shower and wash my then do the rest of my hygiene. I pull on my matching pink and black outfit and my pink jandels. I dont want to get too dressed up for school. I pull my hair into a slick, neat bun and walk downstairs. I grab my book bag, and a granola bar and start walking to the bus stop. In case you guys didn't know were all going into the ninth grade this year. So we would all be lost at the new school together.

When I reach the bus stop I see the normal people, Nya, Jalen, Malak and Tre. I wave and they all look at me.

Laila: 😊What
Nya: We was supposed to match
Jalen: I was just looking cause you fine
Malak & Tre: Right😜
Laila: Sorry Nya, I forget and thanks

The bus pulls up so we all get in and go to the middle. I sit next to Malak and Jalen squeezes in between us. Nya and Tre sit in the same seat.

We talk about random stuff throughout the whole ride but mostly Malak talks about Noah, Nadia and River. I know he's happy but its getting annoying. He's so cute, I would tell him how I feel but I dont know. Its been two months and he hasn't confessed to having any type of feelings for me, even after we had a make out session in a round of truth or dare. Maybe were not meant to be..

Jalen: Laila stop day dreaming and lemme see your schedule
Laila: (stops day dreaming and hands it to him)

Everyone examines each others schedules. I have all my classes with Tre. Four classes with Malak. And Two with Nya and Jalen. So at least I'll be lost with Tre all day.

Tre: (hooks arm with mines) Let's head to first period then.
Laila: Bye well meet up after lunch, okay?
Everyone except Tre: Okay, bye bsf

I laugh then Tre leads me to room 217;science class. It took a while but we got here. We sit at the back as all the other kids also come in. The teacher introduces herself and we do a simple worksheet about lab safety. Then she tells us were done. Just as I finish someone throws a balled up paper on Tre's desk. He makes a confused face then reads it before setting it on my desk:

We both look up and see this light skinned girl smiling at him. She was really pretty and she had braces. Tre nodded his head and smiled.

Laila: Get you some best friend
Tre: Stfu😊
Laila: You really gonna call her?
Tre: Yea, she's cute
Laila: What about Nya though?
Tre: What do you mean, I never liked Nya 🤔
Laila: What?!
Tre: She likes Noah and she's been liking him for the longest, she said whenever she first meets a boy she falls in love easily so thats why she used to like me, my brother and Malak. But she definitely likes Noah.
Laila: Oh

Just then the bell rings and me and Tre was walking until Dream caught up to us. She smiled at him and he smiled back. They'd be a cute couple, it's just she's taller.

Dream: What class do you guys have next?
Tre: We have human geography.
Dream: Oh cool so do I.

We continue to walk to the class. On the way we were talking and getting to know each other. I found out that she lives with both her parents, and she's really shy when she first meets people. The bell rung right as we stepped into class and took our seats.

Lunch

Me, Dream and Tre walked into the cafeteria and sat at a random table, waiting for everyone else. We saw Malak, Jalen and Nya walking so we waved to them and they came over.

Nya: Hey Tre, hey cuzzo. Who's this? (Points to Dream)
Tre: 😊 Our friend.
Laila: She's cool you shoul-
Malak: Tre why you blushing? (Raises eyebrows)
Tre: I wasn't.
Jalen: Mhm

Everyone else arrives including who I'm guessing is Noah, Nadia and River. Noah and Noah look alike so I'm just gonna assume there related.

Malak: Y'all found the cafeteria? 😂
???: Duh were not as slow as you, there's a sign that says Café.
Malak: Stfu Nadia.
Jalen: My n!gga Noah
Noah?: Wassup
Nya: Introduce y'all selves to our new friends😐
River: Shut up, we were. (Mumbles
Nadia: Okay, so I'm Nadia. Noah is my borhter of course and we moved down to Michigan because the other area we lived in wasn't safe anymore. We live with both our parents and were twins. Oh and were 15. (Guys idk if this is true)
Noah: She explained almost everything sooo..😒
River: I'm River

She seems shy because thats all she said and she then she started looking down and playing with her fingers.

Dream: Oh I'm Dream
Noah: 😍Dang ma
Tre: Noah you not gonna steal my future again. (Looks at Nya)

Thats when I realized what really happened. He probably didn't want to say anything because it would be very weird.

Noah: I'm not but she's pretty.
Dream: Thanks
Tre: Whatever.
Malak: That was funny though, you thought she was really in love until she met Noah then she told me that she didn't like you anymore cause you was playing hard to get so she moved on😂
Laila: 😰
Laila: Wait so does Noah like her?
Noah: We've been dating for like a week now sooo.
Laila: Oh, well Nya you could have told me😐
Nya: I was going too.
Jalen: Anyways, let's get off this love dovey shiii-stuff
Tre: Yea, we should all hang out tonight.
Nadia: What time?
Tre: Around eight

The bell rings and we all go our separate ways. Thats interesting, but everything that happened at the table reminded me of me and Malak not being together after so much. I could move on but I'm still holding on the the thin string thats holding us together.
