Thursday :
The bass of the Migos song t-shirt rumbled in my head from the single earbud in my ear while I watched my younger sister Ingrid's friend Alice cram her feet into her shoes.
She had a nice ass.
I remembered the first time Alice had come over, she'd been in kindergarten and I'd been in first grade.
I glanced down at my phone, 10:10.
"Will you hurry up." I teased."
Letting out a huff she straightened up and brushed her black hair behind her ear with her fingertips.
"You don't have to take me home." She informed me, "I could have got an Uber."
"Yeah, yeah." I yawned handing her, her jacket which she folded over her arm, "as annoying as you are I have to make sure you get home in one piece."
She opened the front door, "Bye Ingrid, see you tomorrow!"
"Shh! Jesus!" I taunted, "You'll wake the neighbors!"
Smirking she shuffled out into the porch, waiting for me to follow then lock the door behind us before she skipped over to the passenger side door of my keep and yanked on the handle until I unlocked it.
She fiddled with the radio as soon as she got in, turning the channel to some over played pop song before buckling her seatbelt, the whole car smelling like coconut and vanilla as she whipped her hair around.
The ride to her house was a short one, only long enough to fill awkward silence with hums to the music and polite small talk.
"Are you excited to graduate?" She questioned as we pulled in to her driveway.
I nodded, "Very."
"Are you excited for college?"
"Yeah."
"I bet there will be lots of girls there."
I laughed, playing with the cigarette in my hand which I was waiting for her to exit the vehicle before lighting.
She shrugged, "Thanks for the ride Michael, I'll see you tomorrow?"
I shrugged.
She frowned, "Please come to school."
"What are you my Mom?"
"Yes."
"You're a freak."
She smirked, " I know."
She had the best lips, thick but not too thick, pink, they looked soft.
I licked my own lips.
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"You know I don't."
"Date me."
"No thanks."
"Why not."
"You're my best friend's brother, that's weird."
I opened my mouth to argue however before I could there was a knock on my window, startled, I whirled around to find Alice's half sister Iris staring back at me.
She had sunglasses on even though it was dark out, her dark brown hair was cut short, her lipstick was red and her leather jacket, which she had draped over her shoulders making her look like one of the guys from Grease, was faux.
I'd been going to school with her for as long as I could remember, she was the sister of my little sister's best friend and as far as I could remember I hadn't ever said much more then a few words to her.
"I've got to go." Alice sighed, "Sorry about her."
Pretending I wasn't intimidated by the girl with the pixie cut staring in at us I rolled down my window.
"Hey," I greeted, "what's with the sunglasses, the moon too bright for you?"
"Something like that." She replied, "Lets go Al."
Awkwardly, Alice climbed out of the car and after waving awkwardly at me trudged up the driveway towards the house.
Without saying another word, Ingrid turned on her heel and followed after her.
I waited until the two were inside before rolling up my window and starting home.
