Chapter 2:
Summary:
Ezra had traveled to Portia's house, and thought about Portia's past. However, once Ezra reached Portia's house, she was startled by the sight of a weeping Portia, curled up on the floor...Ezra's P.O.V.
"Portia, what's wrong?" I exclaimed while rushing foreword to comfort my friend."I... I..." Portia attempted through her sobs.
"You what?" I tried to coax out of her.
"I..." Portia took a deep breath, "I don't have anything to wear!" She wailed, collapsing once more on the floor.

"BWAHAHAHAHAHA!! ,"🤣😆😆 I burst out in laughter.Portia pouted, "Stop it Ezra, you don't understand my struggle."
"Okay okay I'll stop it," I replied, wiping tears from the corners of my eyes, attempting to calm myself down.
Teensy tiny time skip ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At long last, 3 hair brushes, 5 cans of hair spray, 10 meltdowns, 15 buckets of tears, 6 chipped nails, 40 rejected outfits, and a spoon later, I finally managed to get Portia ready. We had picked out a cute light wash jean dress with a brown leather braided belt. With that, we paired an adorable pair of brown lace up boots. And to finish off the look, I put Portia's hair in an absolutely adorable half-up bow bun!
Admiring my handiwork I spun Portia around in her desk chair that she was sitting in, signaling her that she was done.
"FREEDOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!" Portia cheered as she (somehow) sprinted downstairs, to the and I heard the door opening up.
"Hey! Wait up!" I laughed as I ran after her.
"Come on," Portia whined as she waited for me to put my shoes back on, impatiently tapping her foot, "I don't want to miss any good people!!"
You see, one of Portia and I's favorite Awards Day tradition was people watching. It was ridiculous what people would wear to these things, I guess it's their way of going out with a bang. Oh how did I manage to get myself a friend like this...
Flashy flashy flashback ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sat there swinging back and forth on the swings at the playground, all alone. After all, who would want to be friends with that girl, the girl with all of those scars, the girl with the icy yet hurt glare? It was two weeks after that happened. No more did I weep out loud or in silent, no more did I curse my family's murderer with my every breath. Nope, at this point, I was just numb, not feeling any emotion, positive, negative, or otherwise. I couldn't even feel my stomach rumbling, I had stopped eating last week. Before that happened, while I didn't have friends, I wasn't lonely. After all, who needed friends when you had an awesome brother to look after you? Who needed a social life when you had family? I sure didn't. But alas, I didn't even have that after that happened. And thus, there I sat, not caring if my turn was over, not listening to the whines of the other people wanting a turn. I just sat there, swinging back and forth
Back
And fourth
And back
And forth
And back
And fort- Huh?I looked up from my trance to be met by a pair of scowling green eyes.
"Just what do you think you're doing?" Said green eyes interrogated, "These other people want a turn too, ya know." She gestured to the other upset children. "So that's why you can't just- Hey? Why are you crying?"
I was confused at her sudden statement for a second, that was until I felt one roll down my face. Quickly turning away, I grumbled, "Fine." and begrudgingly got up off of the swing.
I casually walked away, hoping that girl with the eyes won't follow me, I'm not the best people person, ya see?
Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, as I walked away I heard a, "Hey! Wait up!" being called out behind me. I didn't have to look to know it was that girl.
Grumbling "This is such a pain." under my breath I shouted back a simple, "No." and then started to sprint off, hoping to lose my friendly tail. This normally worked because after all of those years of being chased by my track-star brother, I had much better agility and was leagues faster than any other kid in my grade, or, for that fact, in my school. I ducked under a slide, then swerved and leapt over a platform. (A/N the things that are high up that you stand on before you go on a slide) After dodging several confused children, I raced to the wood pavilion. Once there, I scurried up a pillar and launched myself into the rafters, my recess safe place. Unfortunately, apparently my pint-sized pursuer was fairly fast too, reaching the pavilion before I could settle into my hiding spot.
Looking around, she yelled "Ezra! Ezra! Come out! You haven't answered my question yet!" Meanwhile, I was shifting in the rafters , trying to get comfy. Unluckily, in my shifting, I accidentally knocked down an abandoned birds nest. It landed next to the girl, earning a "Crap!" from me and a glance upward from the girl.
I waited one breath
Two breaths
Three breaths"HEY! There you are!" I heard an ear splitting screech from the little girl, "How did you get up there?" She asked.
I opted to ignore her, hoping if I didn't give her any attention then I wouldn't receive any from her. That didn't work. After a moment of silence, the girl waiting for me to answer, she yelled out, "Well if you don't tell me then I'll sit here bugging you for all of the rest of recess!"
"Fine." I begrudgingly got down from my hiding spot.
I spent the rest of recess talking with the girl, who's name I learned was Portia. At the end of the day I had gotten my first friend, and the rest was history...
End flashy flashy flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Portia and I joked and talked along the way to the awards plaza. At long last we had arrived, and found some seats for us and our, well more like Portia's, other friends. And then, we waited.

Authors Note:Well, that's a wrap on this chapter! I'm very sorry if it seems kind of slow moving, and I always try to make it funny, just to make all you guys' lives more interesting 😂😂. Anyway I was writing it, and I kept on digging myself into holes during the flash back, sorry if it seems like that, I just kept on having mini writers block episodes whilst writing. Oh and if you're wondering about the flash backs, I think I would be a lot more boring if I just had Ezra except lain these things so thus I'm using flashbacks!
About updates: I may have already talked about this, but I am a very busy person between school and out of school activities. So while I'm very sorry for the updates taking forever (I know that weekly isn't even that long, but me personally I'm the type to write/read a book in a day, and added with the fact that I have ADD (attention deficit disorder) you get one impatient author!) I'm gonna try to update once a week probably on Sunday Saturday or Monday (this one is irregular since I couldn't update over the weekend)
Any way I think that's it!Tschüs!
