Howdy! This one was written on spot for a college competition. It won the runner up.

**************

When I turn back and glance
Across the sands of time
I see scribbled walls ,muddy uniforms
Picnic baskets and pocket money dimes.

I fling a lithe rock ,
It skips across the pond
Away from the mossy stone walk
To the yellow house beyond.

Purple kites; red ,green and yellow
Drift across the sky,
Above a field from Neverland
Wherein my memories lie.

I'd walk on words from stories
To meet unicorns dragons and fairies.
A rainbow of possibilities kissed my window sill
And I would slide down it to wherever I'd will.

I see a kaleidoscope of fun ,friends and family .
The coloured bits of paper
the definition of me .

Alas the sails of childhood have been let down .
They surge forwards with the breeze.
If only I could turn back time
And those priceless moments once more seize.
