The darkness began to fade as the girl slowly opened her groggily eyes. She looked around and noticed she had fallen asleep in the same meadow. The sound of crickets and the glowing fireflies were gone and were replaced by a few birds chirping. The sky wasn't dark anymore; it was a light blue with a light nearby. The girl stood up and saw it was sunrise. She grew worried if Jonathan and the others had awoken and noticed she was gone.

The girl walked back to the village and saw the sun clearly rising more. The girl ended up running back to the house, while the town started to wake up. When the girl reached the house, she slowly opened the door, but it made a tiny squeak. She looked around and saw all of the doors were closed, meaning everyone was still asleep. The girl entered and turned to close the door slowly and quietly behind her.

"Where did you run off to?" A familiar voice asked, startling the girl. She gasped and twirled quickly with her back slamming back against the door. She looked at Jonathan surprised. It was an awkward and long silence between them. "Well, wherever you went, please give me a sign before taking off, ok?" Jonathan asked while smiling at her. The girl calmed down and smiled back.

Minutes later, Victor and Mary woke up and joined Jonathan and the girl for breakfast. As always, they didn't have much for meals. They only had bowls of stew and an apple each. "So, you two, I think it would be the time to teach our girl and of course, regain her memory." Mary said smiling at the Jon and the girl. "I agree. Plus, she needs a name until she finds out her real one" Victor said, lacing his old hands together. Jonathan smiled at the thought and looked at the girl reassuringly. The girl stared at Victor and Mary in wonder then glanced at Jonathan, who still smiled at her. What the girl didn't notice was the small blush on Jonathan's cheeks as he turned his head away from her.

The girl sat in one of the wooden chairs that had a few pillows as Jonathan and Mary moved stuff around so they could start teaching. The girl watched the both of them in curiosity. Victor slowly sat down near the side of her and let out a tired sigh. Mary and Jonathan sat in the other chairs across from the girl. "Alright, we'll start by teaching her words and such. But it will take some time. We have to be slow and patient." Mary said to Jonathan and Victor and they nodded.

A few hours had gone by and they taught the girls new words. The girl nodded in understanding, but didn't say a word. They struggled for the girl to at least utter something. The girl seemed to try but couldn't figure out how to use her vocal cords. All of this felt like trying to get a toddler to talk.

They spent the rest of the week teaching the girl more and more. It was a slow and hard process but they were going through just fine. They knew it would take some time and the time will come eventually. By now, it was dinner time and the day of teaching would continue the next day.

Jonathan and his family spent whatever time they had so they could teach me. These caring people gave up their time in order to help a selfless girl like me... Just by spending time with them, it made me wonder if my family was like them... or in any case if I still had a family...

Jonathan and the girl set up the table and Jonathan stopped and looked at the girl. She also stopped and noticed him looking at her. He walked up to her and stared at what was around her neck. The girl also looked down and they both noticed by now that it was a necklace. It had a small bird skull and it was tied around the girl's neck with black ribbon. Jonathan touched and lifted the little piece. "I've never seen this before," Jonathan said, eyeing the necklace. "Where did you find it?" he asked, or maybe to himself since the girl couldn't tell him.

Jonathan looked down at her and the girl stared down at the necklace also, remembering it not being there before. "I think you found this in that area you went last night." Jonathan said, making the girl look up at him surprised. "Come on, don't be surprised. It's obvious you went back to the spot where you lost your memory," Jonathan said smiling, "And I guess you found this necklace that was yours in the area." The girl still looked at him, her surprised look gone.
