Bus

I tightened my grip on my backpack as I slinged it over my shoulder, I turned on my heel and was about to close the door with my bandaged hand when suddenly Smile came running out.  He tripped over my foot but quickly caught his balence and ran up to Jeff's side as Jeff turned around to face him.

"No smile you can't co-"

"Why not?" Jeff asked as he got down on one knee and scratched the top of the smiling dog's head.

I let out a soft sigh as I closed the door and turned my body to face them.

"I'm pretty sure dog's can't get on the bus.." I mumbled as I walked up to him.

Jeff glanced up at me before standing up once again- only to get smile whimpering and tuggling on his pant leg for more attention.

"I let him on the bus loads of times. Now common- we gotta hurry."He said slightly cheery as he turned his back to me and began walking towards the distant road with smile at his side.

I let out a soft sigh as I quickly followed close behind. He glanced back at me and smiled a bit more as he quickened his pace and faced foreword once again. I rolled my eyes and quickened my pace as well until we got onto the sidewalk where Smile quickly turned into his husky form.

There was hardly any traffic- since everyone was either at school or at work at the moment. Even though all the nearby stores seemed to be closed. I quickly began glancing around- looking for a bus stop when I spotted Jeff running away out of the corner of my eye.

I snapped my head towards him and my eyes widened.

"Hey- Jeff!!" I screamed as I took of running after him.

I slung my backpack over my shoulder once again and took off into a jog after him. I began to wonder what he was doing and/or why he was running when I spotted a bus beginning to pull away from a bus stop and smile chasing after it.

I ran as fast as I could but it was obviously no use. As if we could outrun a bus...

I slowed my pace until I was simply standing out of breath, Jeff and smile both did the same before glancing at each other. After catching my breath I shuffled up to Jeff's side.

"Was... that our ride..?" I asked as he began walking foreword once again.

"Yeah.." He said simply.

He was walking rather slowly but he diden't seem out of breath. Smile skipped onto the sidewalk, as to make sure not to get hit by a car and skidded his way up to Jeff.  I took a deep breath- which only caused my to cough because the smell of the maple trees at my side were so strong that I could taste it. And my allergies kind of helped out on that cough as well.

I gulped and cleared my throat as I made my way up to Jeff whom was looking at the bus schedule. As soon as I stepped at his side I felt a sharp pain on my hand. I winced my hand back and snapped my head over to see what had happened, ready to smack some kind of bug or animal away when I realized it was Smile..

I relaxed my hand back at my side after realizing he had been clawing at it, but as soon as I did he began to nuzzle my had. I thought he was going to bite me but instead he looked up at me with a sad puppy dog face. Well as sad as it could give me..

I gulped slightly and shakingly brought my hand up and began to scratch his head, where he closed his eyes and nudges his head up towards my hand once again- encouraging me to continue.

I scratched and rubbed his head harder but I was still being gentle. Smile- with his eyes still closed- began to make some sort of-purring sound. I smiled faintly and let out a little giggle as I brushed my fingers through his fur.
