Kennedy's POV

We make it out the territory and there's a car along the side. Jakeson opens the door for me and helps me in. Once I'm settled in I feel my eyes getting heavy and for the first time in days I get a peaceful sleep.

I feel someone grab hold of my arm and I pull back trying to get out of their grasp.

"No! Please don't hurt me! I haven't done anything!"

"Kennedy it's me Jakeson! Open your eyes. You're safe."

I open my eyes slowly and see Jakeson's ocean blue ones. He lets go of my face and stands up.

"We're at the pack house. Can you walk?" I'm about to get up when he says, "Of course she can't walk you idiot!"

He puts one arm under my legs and the other behind my back before lifting me from the seat and carrying me in the direction of what seems to be a clinic.

"How long was I asleep for?"

"About 5 to 6 hours."

My eyes widen and I wonder how I was able to sleep through the whole ride here. I realize we're in front of the clinic and I cover my face with my hair not wanting to be seen by anyone. Not yet. I hear Jakeson talking and when I hear the doctors voice tears fill my eyes and I lift my head up. Standing in front of me is my mother and her mouth falls open in shock when she recognizes me. Tears start falling from her eyes and my own soon start falling. Jakeson puts me on my feet and I start walking towards my mother. We embrace each other and I nuzzle my face in her neck. Her familiar scent calming me down. I pull away from her and we take the time to look at each other. She hasn't really aged, besides the few wrinkles you could see up close. Her smile falls as she looks over my body. Her eyes fill with sadness and she gently passes a hand over my arm.

"What happened?"

"Well...I'll tell you when he have privacy."

She nods and sits me down on a wheelchair before Jakeson starts following my mother to a room. Once we're inside my mother instructs me to sit on the bed and I do as told. She pulls my shirt up slightly and I see her eyes glaze over when she examines every bruise and scar there is. I take her hands in mine and tell her everything but leave a few of the parts where they tortured me out. I wipe the tears from her eyes and am surprised I'm not crying myself.

"I'm just glad they're all dead."

I feel Jakeson tense beside me and I look over at him with my eyebrows raised.

"What's up?"

"Well...you see...we didn't exactly kill everyone. When we went inside it's like they were expecting us. We fought them but as I was fighting someone I saw one of them running into the forest. I couldn't reach them since I was getting attacked."

"Describe him to me!" I said my heart rate speeding up.

"He had brown hair, about 6'5 and had hazel eyes."

My breathing starts going at a fast pace and I feel my chest tighten. He's still out there. He's going to find me and once he does he's going to finish what he started and kill me.

"Kennedy! Kennedy! You have to snap out of it."

I feel my breathing calm down and my vision starts focusing. Jakeson is in front of me cupping my face and my mother is holding onto my hand. She lays me on the bed and puts the IV in my arm. She then connects me to the other machines and tells me to sit up. She pulls open a drawer and pulls out gauze, alcohol, disinfectant, and cotton balls. She starts cleaning my injuries and I feel the familiar sting. I grit my teeth together and let out a breath when she starts wrapping them up in gauze. I lay back on the hospital bed and relax.

"I have to go help other patients but I'll be back later. They'll give you painkillers and if you need anything just press the button alright?"

I nod my head and she goes out the door. Jakeson grabs a bag from the chairs that are placed along the wall and hands it to me. Where did this come from? I take it and peek inside it. There's a set of clothes, shampoo, my toothbrush, hairbrush, blankets, phone, and sandals.

"How did you get my stuff."

"I've been staying at Grayson's pack house for the past week and I'm the one who led them to where you were."

"Why didn't you guys come to save me sooner then?"

"We didn't know what we were going to encounter or how many of them there were. We were going into this blind so we started training and coming up with a plan to rescue you. The only thing that matters is that you're safe now."

Not for long

Grayson's POV

I'm fighting off the last of them when I smell Kennedy's familiar scent but it smells different. I kill the wolf I was fighting and run towards her smell. I remember I'm in my wolf form and go behind a tree. I change into my human form and pull on a pair of shorts before jogging over to where they are. When I get there I see Mason embracing Kennedy and I growl. She pulls back from him and turns to look at me. I growl when I catch sight of the mark that's on her neck. It's not my mark. Someone else marked her. No wonder she smelled different. Jakeson and Mason pull her behind them shielding her from my view.

"So you've replaced me with him?"

"Grayson stop. I haven't replaced you with anybody but I don't want to be with you anymore. So...I reject you."

She rejected me. This took all of us by surprise and I feel my chest tighten but I regret to show weakness so I hold my tears back.

"I appreciate what all of you have done today. All of you have risked your lives to save mine by coming here and I really appreciate your effort. I'm sure none of you know what events led for me to leave the pack and I'm going to let your alpha tell you that. Grayson."

She turns to me and I have trouble making out a sentence. Why'd she have to put me on the spot like that and in front of my pack.

"Umm...well..." I clear my throat and look down unable to meet anyone's eyes.

"As you can see Mason and Kennedy are close. I thought something was going on between them and I was letting my anger influence my actions so... I-I...I slept with Bethany. It was a mistake. Kennedy I've missed you like hell this past week and... I'm sorry."

"Well, you should've thought about that before you slept with Bethany. I'm sorry Grayson but I can't be with you knowing what you've done. What you did...it really hurt me a-and it made me question if I wasn't good enough for you o-or if she had something I didn't. But then I realized it was you not me."

She turned towards the warriors and said sorry before turning to Mason and saying something to him. I just watch everything happen. I watch as Jakeson takes hold of her hand and takes her far away from me. I turn towards the pack and signal them to clear the area. I go towards Mason and hold him back as the rest of the pack starts leaving.

"Her scent is different Mason. She bares someone else's mark but it's not just that."

"You don't think she's..."

"No! It can't be!"

I've lost Kennedy completely. She's gone. Moon goddess please don't let my predictions be right. It can't be.
