Sina hummed as she skipped along the sea shore. She didn't know which sea, but it didn't matter. Her light brown lit up as she spotted another shell. The shell was yellow and brown striped with intricate spirals. Sina smiled, it was definitely a keeper. She bent down to pick it up and put it in her brown woven basket. She frowned, her basket was starting to get heavy. It was filled with shells, sand dollars, and rocks that she deemed worthy. Sina contemplated collecting more or heading home. The sun sank lower and into the horizon, causing the sky to tinge pink. Sina decided to go home or Ja'Jahm would start to get worried.
She turned away from the bay area and started walking into the forest trail. The forest around her was thick, but when Ja'Jahm discovered she liked to play in the bay he quickly made a trail, so she wouldn't get lost. The trot home took longer than she was hoping. When she started the sun was just beginning to dip into the water; now it barely peeked over the skyline. Sina picked up her pace as the path got brighter. When she was younger Sina had planted bioluminescent fungi to 'spruce up the place'. She smiled as a clearing came and into view. Glowing fungi illuminated her valley making it easier to find her small hut. She preferred to sleep underneath the stars with Ja'Jahm, but the hut was to keep her valuables and herself safe from the rain.
As she entered the hut, she took a deep breath and yelled at the top of her lungs, "Ja'Jahm, I'm back!" The ground rumbled in acknowledgment. Sina giggled out her reply, "I missed you too." She pushed aside her beaded curtain, made from shells, to enter her small abode. On her walls were shelves and shelves of shells and other astounding items she found in the bay. Sina placed her latest shell next to a white piece of coral she found two weeks prior.
As soon as she'd place all the new editions in the perfect place, she headed outside to to stargaze with Ja'Jahm. Her smile widened as she saw the constellation out tonight. The winged horse Pegasus flew across the slowly moving sky. Sina talked animatedly to Ja'Jahm about Pegasus' story. Where she learned it she had no idea, but she didn't care. That's how she fell asleep laughing with Ja'Jahm as he purred in response. And that's how she liked it.
...
Soft thumps to her back awoke Sina. "Wha...? Ja'Jahm, what's wrong?" She questioned. The thumps grew more frequent, and this frightened Sina. Quickly she scrambled to her feet. She recognized this pattern. 1, 2,... 3, 4, 5. It meant hide. The last time she hid it was from an alligator, but Sina could tell this threat was probably much bigger. Sina swiftly ran to her hut to grab dark cloths, to cover the bright fungi leading to her clearing. When it was finished she climbed up a tree and stayed. Sina looked at the sky. Pegasus was still out, staring at her. The position of the moon to of her that it couldn't be later than 3AM. A silent yawn crawled out of her mouth. Slowly, Sina drifted off again.
...
The sun shined brightly in the sky. Sina's face scrunched up when the blinding rays reached her closed eyelids. Trying to prolong sleep, she rolled over. Unfortunately, she forgot she was resting in a tree. Sina fell, her stomach hitting a branch on the way down, landing on her back.Groaning loudly, she achingly stood up. Looking down at her stomach, which was exposed by her cropped top, she saw it had some scratches and was staring to turn purple against her tanned skin. Examining the bruise further she decided it wasn't too bad.
Sina stood in place focusing on her surroundings. More specifically, she was trying to feel Ja'Jahm. He was quiet and most likely asleep. Like an insomniac Ja'Jahm could stay awake for days on end, but crash unexpectedly.
Realizing that Ja'Jahm wouldn't wake up soon Sina started cleaning up. After that she went behind her hut where a multitude of fruits, nuts, and veggies grew. 'Hmm. I think today calls for blueberries and orange juice.' Picking a half-basketful of blueberries Sina headed past her garden to a cave. She kept her juice and refrigerates there due to its temperature. When Sina felt full she went back down to her bay for a walk.
Sina wandered the shore aimlessly for a while. The she saw something in the distance. The closer she got the more she recognized the shape. It was a boat. A very big white boat was stranded on Ja'Jahm's bay. 'That's not good. This must be the danger he warned me about.' Sina touched the boat, it was on its side and the front had a hole. Other than that it looked pure. Sina looked around the boat and was terrified of what she saw.
There on the sands of Ja'Jahm's bay were seven people. Three adults and four children. It only got worse when one of the kids started to wake up. Sina began to panic, 'What do I do?'
