Six weeks have passed since we left the CDC. It's August, the hottest month of the year. During these weeks, we settled down for the nights, sometimes we made fires, but apart from these, we were sitting on the vehicles, spoke to each other, played, and told to each other what did we do.
One day, in the morning, we reached that part of the road, where cars were on their way back and forth. We were just looking at them. It was a bit horrifying, but the biggest problem was that we had to find out how to drive through this road. Daryl went ahead to assess the terrai, and when he drove back, he stopped under the window of the caravan.
- Can we drive through? - asked Rick. Lori and Carl were standing next to him, and I was sitting next to him on the other seat.
- For a while. - Daryl drove behind us to tell this to Shane as well.
Rick took a deep breath, and when Lori noticed this, she put her hand on her husband's to support him. Rick slowly started to go ahead with the RV, and meanwhile, I was looking into those cars, which were standing on the road. In many of them there were walkers, so we really had to be quiet not to wake them up.
When we arrived at that place where we needed to get off from our cars to clean the road somehow, Rick told us what to do.
- Lori, Elisabeth, Carol, can I ask you to look around and try to search for things we might need. Maybe food, or medicine, clothes... Everything what you think we might need in the near future.
We nodded, and Sophia went with Carol, Carl with Lori and I walked alone among the cars to find some supplies. While we were away, Dale was watching the landscape around us from the caravan, and Rick, Shane, Mr Brown and Daryl were pushing the cars down from the road.
In the first few cars, I only found some medicines, and a baseball hat, what I liked so I put on my head. This was a helpful thing because from now on, I hadn't had to look through my eyelashes. In a dark blue car, I have found some kid clothes both girl and boy ones, so I collected them, because thinking about Carl and Sophia, who had no changing and warmer clothes, and I didn't think they would survive the winter in short jeans and t-shirts. In front of me, there was a black car, which had a walker inside of it. I studied her for a while, when I noticed some leather bracelets and yarn bracelets. Slowly I grabbed her wrist and tried to take off her bracelets, but in the next moment she moved and tried to bite me.
I forgot to shout for help, although I needed, because she was even ckloser and closer to my arm. I had a knife on my left side, but it was hard to reach it, because with my other hand which was free, I tried to keep distance between my right hand and her jaw. One of my legs was on the side of the car, this helped me not to give myself to the walker.
The danger became even bigger, when I heard another dead man coming towards us from behind. He was too fast, and he nearly reached me, when someone shot it, and I only felt that it fell on my back, and it's face was next to mine, supported on my shoulder. A man got to me, and helped getting away from the walker. I hurried with killing it with my knife, and then I looked to my saver. First I was smiling then my face became cold and scared.
- Hello, darling. - it was Mr Brown.
- Shouldn't you be helping Rick? - I asked him while I took off the bracelets, and picked up the supplies, what I collected before.
- You have nothing to do with it. - and he walked closer to me, maybe he was too close, but he seemed he wasn't dealing with it. I felt really uncomfortable for his closeness, and I tried to walk away, but he didn't let me.
