When she got back she was welcomed with open arms by my parents.
She wanted to confront her parents but she didn't even know how to start. So she just pushed it to the side for now.
Rachel was a bit disappointed she couldn't make the trip but she and Christine were glad she was okay.
She told them what happened, leaving out a few parts of course. How could she tell them the one man who made her feel so alive wasn't altogether human and neither was she allegedly.
They would think she was crazy.
A week went by, then two. She was beginning to feel like she traded one heartache for another.
That sick feeling was starting to return again but this time worse.
So she decided to go to the doctor.
She was pregnant.
She was a little scared but she was also very happy. A small part of Dave would be always with me, even if I never saw him again.
My parents took the news pretty good, too good in my opinion.
My mother was happy she was finally going to be a grandmother. What was even odder is that they never really pushed about finding out who was the father of my baby.
All they did was insist that she moved back in with them, especially my dad. She didn't object, lord knows she would need the help.
Christine and Rachel were shocked to find out they were gonna be aunties but happy none the less.
"Does he know about the baby, asked Christine"?
"No".
"Are you sure"?
Yes, I said looking at her pointedly.
"Have you heard from him since you left, asked Rachel"?
No...I don't know, it doesn't matter either way we don't need him we're fine.
Either you did or you didn't, said Christine. So which is it?
A couple weeks ago I got a call and...I believe it was Dave.
" What did he say"?
I ended the call.
"What"!
I panicked.
I could strangle you right now if I wasn't so weak right now, said Christine.
Lisa, you should talk to him it's his baby too, said Rachel gently.
You can't let what happened in the past hold you back.
She's right.
You can't expect to do everything on your own, look at you your five months pregnant and you can barely walk properly.
Children these days are expensive you should make him pay child support.
You can't expect your parents to keep shouldering your weight when things go wrong.
"Wow".
I don't know what's your problem exactly but ever since I came back you've been acting like a real bitch. But I'm glad, and I thank you for telling me how you really feel.
Wait, I didn't mean it to sound that way, said Christine.
We both know that's a lie. But I'm glad you're telling me how you really feel, she said getting up and slipping her bag over her shoulder.
