23: Fixing and Breaking
THOMAS'S POV

Cold. Cold! I groped for my blanket, instead of finding my blanket I got a shove from someone. I opened my eyes and saw JC. I grabbed my blanket, covered myself, and shut my eyes.

JC: Just so you know, you haven't sent a rose yet.

Upon hearing what JC said, every sleeping cell in me woke up. I sat up on my bed and ran my hand on my hair.

Thomas: WHAT?!?

I looked at the clock and it's already eight in the morning! I slept through my alarm and now, I am doomed! I looked at JC and he seemed calm.

Thomas: How can you stay that calm?

Instead of panicking with me, he sat down next to me and handed me a pen and a rose.

JC: Because I know what back-up plans are. You're a point guard, yet you don't know how to execute a play properly? Shame.

I chose to let go of what he said, accepted the pen and the rose before I reached for my phone. I've prepared this last night which is why I woke up late.

"Love is not about going on fancy dates, or showing off. It's about being with a person who makes you happy in a way nobody else can."

You make me happy in a way only Sam Torregoza can do.

Btw, you really did well yesterday. Watched the replay and you were like a veteran CSR. I'm so proud of you.

I gave him back the pen and the rose.

Thomas: Thanks for this, bro. I owe you big time.

JC: No, you don't owe me a thing. I didn't come here because I want to be a hero in your story. I'm done being your wingman. I'm just my sister's brother now.

JC and I have been friends, yet I've never heard him talk like this to me. My eyebrows arched in surprise because of confusion. I'm totally clueless about everything.

JC: Next time, watch your words.

Thomas: Bro, what are you talking about? Can you please tell me what's happening?

JC: You want to be the universe guy, don't you? Guess what your universe played a really funny joke at your expense yesterday. Sam unintentionally read your message to Jeron. Tom, seriously?

I bowed down and pressed my hands against my head as I think of what I've done wrong this time. JC must have noticed that I'm totally clueless about everything that started filling me up.

JC: Is Sam there? If so, I'll pass. I just don't wanna see her.

I was more than surprised of what I heard. It was never meant to sound like that. In the first place, it was never meant to be read by Sam.

Thomas: You know that I won't do that. Most especially not to Sam.

He heaved a deep sigh. I know JC too well. He has been loyal to me as a friend. He encouraged me to court Sam. He was the reason why Sam gave me a chance.

JC: I don't know if I still know you, Tom.

Disappointment was evident on JC's voice. Sam is not just his sister, she's his twin sister. I know where he's coming from.

Thomas: Is she mad at me?

JC: I don't know. We rarely talk about you these past few days. Ahia called me last night and told me the story. He was disappointed with you. I am disappointed with you.
