I open my eyes. Sunlight was gleaming through the windows. Everything seemed right with the world, but nothing was right with the world. My best friend was leaving and so was I. As I sat up I looked at all the packed boxes sitting around. It was my last day in this house. This house I had spent 13 years of my life in. But not only was I leaving this house, I was leaving a best friend. Nathan, we had spent most of middle school together. It may not have been a long time but we were friends from the start, but now he was leaving and so was I. I heard my mother calling me," Oria, start getting ready, the moving truck will be here soon." I rolled out of bed and pulled on a pair of jeans and and a shirt. I walked down stairs, grabbed my backpack for the long road trip, and headed out to the car. About an hour later we were on the road. Me and my mom, just driving. I had said goodbye to Nate the day before, but I already missed him. My mom looked at me," Where do you want to eat breakfast, sweetie." I shrugged my shoulders,"McDonalds?" "Sure, what would you li..." Her sentence was cut off as a another car smashed into our car. Our car rolled, and landed upside down. I felt dizzy, but alright. I felt something grip my arm. It was my mothers hand. I looked at her. Her skin was pale and her eyes were red. She was screaming at me," Oria listen to me! You have to get out! Don't let them take you!" She would have continued if it weren't for the hand that wrapped around her neck. The hand yanked her out of the car. I watched her feet get lifted off the ground, and I heard a voice. It was a deep angry voice. "Why did you take her away from the circle! You knew she would be safe there!" There was a sickening thunk and I watched my mothers body fall to the ground, with a wooden stake through her heart. I froze as four hands encircled me and yanked me out of the car. Glass shards pierced my back as I was pulled through the broken car window. Something covered my mouth and I blacked out.

I opened my eyes. My vision was blurry but I saw a familiar face. His face made me smile. It was Nate, only he looked older, wiser and there were tears in his eyes. I started to say his name but I was cut off by a hand covering my mouth. I heard a voice, I didn't recognize it. "Do it! Finish it!" I looked up at Nate with confused eyes. He wouldn't look at me, and that's when I saw the wooden stake in his hand. Before I could react I felt the stake sink deep into my heart. I looked up at him one last time, and my eyelids slid shut.
