I jolted upward.  It had been years since I had had that dream.  Well only part of it was a dream.  My mother was still dead, and I was still saved by vampires who I had never known existed.  They said that if I hadn't been saved, that I would have died with my mother.  Since the accident I have learned what I really am supposed to be.  My mother kept it a secret to try to keep me safe, but it obviously didn't work because right now I'm 17, which is the coming of age year of vampires, I am in one of the strongest vampire clans in the realm, and I am one of the strongest vampires on the violet team.  As an under age vampire, we are to be placed into teams based on power, but as of today I am no longer underage.  Our team is the most powerful because all of us on this team have one or two of the powers most vampires don't have.  We either have healing powers, flight abilities, or both.  I am the only one on my team with both, but since I am coming of age I will have to leave my friends, go into the hunter regions, and survive two moons.  This may not seem like a long time, but the hunters have become more brave by leaving there territory, and our outer posts are dropping like flies.  If I survive, because of my powers, I will be given control of one of our secondary military posts. I walked out of my tent to see the craziness around me.  Everyone was getting ready for the send-off.  The send-off was a ceremony for vampires who have come of age.  It starts when the moon starts to rise.  The vampires are sent into the Hunters territory.  I looked up to the sky.  Darkness had fallen and you could see the light of the moon just above the peak of the mountain dividing the vampire territory from the werewolf territory.  The ceremony was going to start soon so I went to go say goodbye to the rest of my team.  I walked over to our large tent.  I didn't have a lot of friends on my team, but I had one.  Jaala, she was my friend since the beginning.  She was like a sister to me, but now I was leaving her.  She was older than me by a year.  She had already survived the hunter regions, and was now the captain of our team.   We didn't say anything, but she understood.  She was terrified about the send-off too. I heard the sound of a horn blow and I knew it was time.  I hugged Jaala again, and left the tent.  I walked to the designated spot for the send-off.  I received nervous glances from all around me.  I was the only one going in for the send-off of this moon.  I saw the full moon rise above me, and I felt the cold chain of a necklace encircle my neck. The clasp of the necklace clip, and I saw a tall, pail figure come in front of my vision.  Vice was the leader of our clan.  He would give a small token of luck to each of the vampires who were going into the hunters territory.  My token, a necklace with a small red ruby in a black center piece.  "Good luck Oria. We all have faith in you."  He hugged me and gestured to the edge of the woods.  Once I entered those woods I would be completely and utterly alone.
