 Make it stop.. Please..

I blinked hard as I tried staying conscious, even though blacking out at this point sounded like a great plan.

Make the pain stop..

Blood trickled down the side of my head as I turned my face to glare at the man standing before me. I've been held captive for a bit more than a week ever since my failure to complete the mission I was given.

A cry of pain echoed through the cold room as the sole of his boot slammed into my nose and I gritted my teeth as the man yanked my head up to look into my eyes. The scuttle of feet sounded from the far corner behind me as my cousin tried fighting against the big, burly men holding him back.

"I'm going to ask you this one more time," the man growled angrily. "Where is your team located?"

"Haven't you learned already? I'm not going to-," he cut me off with a blow to the side of the head. I cried out, gritting my teeth in pain as I slowly turned my head back to him. My grey eyes were filled with hatred as he glared back, his jaw clenched in frustration and anger.

"I'll be back later," his deep voice rumbled as I spit out some blood from my mouth.

My gaze followed his movements as he stood up and motioned for his goons to follow him. My cousin was dropped to the floor as he was released and he rushed to me as soon as the cell door slammed shut.

"Star?" He whispered as his eyes surveyed the damage the man did to me. "Are you okay?"

I slowly sat up and wiped the blood from my nose, wincing from the pain. "I'm fine," I said bitterly, avoiding his gaze. I was getting sick of this treatment. This cold, stone room where we were kept for hours on end.

He scooted closer to me. "Stop lying. I know you're not fine." I looked up him, eyeing the cuts and bruises on his own face, my eyes irritated.

"James. Stop fussing over me," I sat up more to face him. "I've endured worse and you know that."

James looked at me then away, sighing. "Fine then," he mumbled as he scooted away from me.

We looked fairly similar. Same golden copper hair and dark grey eyes, close to the color of the clouds from the endless sky outside of where we were kept. He was a few feet taller than me with a muscular build in contrast to my lean figure. He's the only family I had left after what happened about 4 years ago, and he vowed to keep me safe. He vowed to keep me from harm. I know it feels like he let me down. That he let himself down.

I glanced in his direction, wanting to say something but nothing came to mind. I wanted to reassure him, but I had no idea what to reassure him about. That it's going to be fine? That we're going to get out of this?

Doubtful
