Y/N's POV

"Alright, please wait for your name to be called." Mrs. Lisa says. I nod, and she heads off to talk to the next student. As I scan around the audience that had shown up, one face catches my attention, Y/B/N. I laugh at her funny faces, as she waves at me. I wave back, laughing at her way of easing my nervousness. After about an hour and a half later, I hear my name being called by one the teachers judging this competition.

"Y/N Y/LN?" I step up to the front of the stage, and take a deep breath, wanting to get this over with.

"Whenever you're ready." Mr. Ratburn says. I nod, and moments later, the music starts.

I'm breaking down, gonna start from scratch
Shake it off like an Etch-A-Sketch
My lips are saying goodbye
My eyes are finally dry

I'm not the way that I used to be
I took the record off repeat
You killed me, but I survived
And now I'm coming alive

I'll never be that girl again, no oh oh
I'll never be that girl again, no oh oh

My innocence is wearing thin
But my heart is growing strong
So call me, call me, call me
Miss movin' on, oh oh oh
Miss movin' on, oh oh oh, yeah

I broke the glass that surrounded me (Surrounded me)
I ain't the way you remember me (Remember me)
I was such a good girl
So fragile, but no more.

I jumped the fence to the other side (The other side)
My whole world was electrified (Electrified)
Now I'm no longer afraid
It's Independence Day (Independence Day)

I'll never be that girl again, no oh oh
I'll never be that girl again, no oh oh

My innocence is wearing thin
But my heart is growing strong
So call me, call me, call me
Miss movin' on

Everything is changing and I never wanna go back to the way it was
(The way it was)
I'm finding who I am and who I am from here on out is gonna be enough
(Gonna be enough) It's gonna be enough

I'll never be that girl again, no oh oh
I'll never be that girl again, oh oh oh

My innocence is wearing thin
But my heart is growing strong
So call me, call me, call me

Miss movin' on (on) oh oh oh
Miss movin' on (On and on and on and on and on) oh oh oh
Miss movin' on (on and on and on and on) oh oh oh
(On and on and on and on) Miss movin' on, oh oh oh (Hey yeah)
I'm movin' on

After hitting the final note, I open eyes to a thunderous applause. All the teachers were standing up and clapping, surprisingly.

"Fantastic, Y/N, fantastic!" Mrs. Lisa compliments.

"Thank you!" I say.

"So, do you have an idol or an inspiration?" Mr. Ratburn asks, after the teachers sit back down. I nod.

"Yes, Fifth Harmony. They've helped me through my rough times, and well, kept me going, telling me not give up." I say, causing the teachers and students to applaud.

"I agree, they are a group of talented ladies, and their songs certainly deliver a strong message. Do you have a favorite of the group?" Mrs. Lisa asks.

"Yes, Lauren Jauregui. I'm fascinated by how she sometimes displays a fierce, independent woman persona, but during other times she shows her soft, caring side. And, she's from this beautiful city." I say.
