I woke up at 9:28 in the morning to scratching on my door. "Alright, Alright, I'll get you food, Buddy." I said. I had thought that it was just my cat that was hungry, but when I opened the door I nearly jumped out of my pajamas. There standing in the hallway was that gigantic spider from yesterday, in my house, scratching at my door. It stared at me, and I stared at it... and it stared at me... and I stared at it... and neither of us moved. I waited a little bit until I saw the fear drain from it's eyes and then moved my hand to attempt to pet it, but it got scared again and went into that defensive posture with its legs up in the air. I stopped and then tried to go around it instead. Then I instantly remembered about my dog and my cat. Were they hurt? Where were they? Surely this big spider would have scared the life out of them. I didn't think before I quickly jumped over the spider and ran downstairs. I burst into the living room to see my cat and dog sleeping in the dog bed together. Buddy, my cat, looked up at me flatly like "What are you doing... I was sleeping, man...", then went back to dozing. I was glad that the spider didn't hurt anything or knock anything down. And just as I turned around I saw the spider coming down the stairwell looking at me. It had this joyful type of look in its eyes. I wondered what it was planning... I ignored that and went into the kitchen, spider following at my feet, and made breakfast. I was surprised that it was this close to me and it still wouldn't let me pet it. It looked up at me with sad begging like eyes. I remembered that spiders have to eat too and then I went to the fridge to grab something for it. We had a few types of meat and I figured that I would try to feed some to him. Then I paused and waited... 'did spiders eat raw meat?' I asked myself. 'yeah.. they are predators, after all, this should be fine'. So I grabbed out some ribs, a T-bone steak, leg of lamb, and looked for the spider. 'Oh brother...' I thought, putting the food down. Where was the spider now... I looked around in the kitchen before I left to the living room, and there I found him sitting neatly on the couch. 'Huh... must be comfy...' I thought, going back into the kitchen and grabbing the food. I slowly approached him with a rib in my hand. He looked at my hand cautiously and then saw the meat. He lurched forward at it and I dropped the meat on the couch, scared. He ate it, even eating the bone, and then realized that I was scared when he looked up at me. He had a sorrowful look in his eyes and I could tell that he did not mean to harm me. I saw this and handed him the T-bone steak, which he was not really fond of, so I tried the leg of lamb. He looked at it and then took it from my hand, slowly this time. He held it down with some of his legs and ripped at it. I think he liked it and I was growing excited. I watched him eat the piece of meat, in only mere minutes. This time he didn't crunch down the bone, it was too big, I assumed. So I left it to Tucker to chew on when he got up from his slumber. The spider, I decided to call him Jack, was now just resting on the couch. This was the time, I was going to pet Jack, I decided. I made slow and subtle movements and tried not to startle him, as I new that he could easily snap my hand off, after all, he did eat the whole rib. He caught the movement and looked at my hand, watching as it moved toward his head. I continued to move my hand slowly towards him and then he closed his eyes and titled his head slightly down. I took this as a gesture of willingness and pet his head. I was right, his fur was very soft. I ran my fingers through his soft, black fur and then went to his head and started again. He made this sound that sounded something like a low growl and so I stopped, not wanting to annoy him. He then opened his eyes and looked at me and I could almost tell that he was thinking 'Hey? Why did you stop?'. I then cautiously pet him again and he made that growling sound again 'oh, its like how a cat purrs, so he likes it', I thought. I pet him for about what, 8 minutes, and then got up to do the dishes. My mom and dad were away for the weekend so they had no idea that I had a big spider in the house. But before they left, my mom had asked me to do some chores so I had to get started on that. The chores took a while each, so they took up my whole day and by the time I was finished I just wanted to lay around and relax and so that is what I did. Little did I know that I was that tired so when I was relaxing I fell asleep... for the night I guess.
