Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is, to my understanding, a mental disorder in which an individual experiences the persistence of two or more enduring entities within their psyche (usually named dissociated personality states) which switch around randomly or triggered by very specific situations.
These personalities are very distinct from each other which can be seen in their manner of speaking, gestures, overall behavior, interests, social relations, and in most cases these entities have their own memory banks, meaning that the "main personality" is often unaware of the actions of any of the other ones.
While most of the time DID affects it's sufferer's life through apparent forgetfulness and identity crisis, I do no have these problems, for I have a different type of DID, known as "Branched Personality" or "Fragmented Personality". In my case, my different personalities had "branched off" from a main one, which is also the one in control of the body most of the time, and they shared the same physical view of the world, thus the experience everything the main personality does, although they react and think in different ways.
Back on the day, this use to caused me problems, since I though all that was happening it's that I was hearing voices in my head, but now I know that my personalities all hold conversations among each other or simply comment on different things through the day. Still, everyone entity is completely different from any other one, as such, they can't be considered the same person.
As of now, I live in peace with all of them, and we have to an agreement. Simply put, we all want a better life...a good life...And we are decided to allied for it. Everyone has strengths and weakness(think of them as actual different people), so dealing with certain problems will be better for on personality or the other, as well showing different sides and perspectives to every day occurrences.
In a way it's cheating, since "We, who are many" are always actively looking up for solutions and plans to help us get where we want to go...Home. Even if that place doesn't exist yet, we will construct it for ourselves.
