Before we get talking about "Us", it's better to talk about "The Host" first.
Who is the Host?
Simply put, our body. Our physical gate to this world.
The Host makes reference to the body we share, although not the body we perceive. You see, every personality perceives themselves in a different form and the one that has a closest bound to the Host is the main personality.
In lame man's terms, the Host is a blank slate use to interact with the World in many different ways and whose characteristics change depending on different conditions, such as opinions from different personalities or one of them taking over .
Now that we are talking about this it would be a good moment to talk about personality switching or "Take Over".
While most of the time, one personality is at charge of the body and only listen to advice and opinions from other personalities in how to act, sometimes it's necessary for a specific personality to "take over" the Host directly. Most of the time, because they are simply more adept or experienced in dealings with the situation at hand. What personality is at charge at the moment can be determined by manner of speaking and gestures, even opinions and specific words.
Finally, another important detail to note is that, the Host acts as a shield of physical pain, which is almost never experienced by any personality other than the main one, while this main personality acts as a shield of physiological pain which, with help of some other personality, hold our overall mental stability.
