Samantha felt safe in Lance's embrace as she wept. He was warm and cosy. He smelt of peppermint and aftershave. It was so intoxicating, she felt as if she could lie there for the rest of her life. At first she was shocked as he gentle wrapped her in his embrace but then she relax into his warmth. Other than her father, she had never hugged a male like this before. She liked it. She liked it a lot. She felt safe again.
For a moment she hesitated to put her arms around him but she managed successfully. She buried her face into his defined chest. She loved the way how his muscles felt as she rested her head on him. She listened to the steady beat of his heart. Then she realised how pathetic she must looked crying in his arms and quickly wipe at her tears but not before escaping his warmth.
"I'm sorry. I must look stupid crying for something so little". She said looking up at his face that was laced with what looked like disappointment. His eyes studied her face slowly and she felt awkward at his observation. She quickly averted her eyes to the floor.
"No. Actually you don't". He replied. "I accept your apology. I know what you said was because of the anger you felt for me and I'm sorry for what pain I caused you. I just hope you'll find it in you to forgive me as much as I forgive you". He added. She looked up at that. Should she forgive him? It seems as if he was being sincere and it looked as if he'd changed a lot.
She smiled and when she saw his smile her breath hitched. He was a handsome piece of God's creation. "It wouldn't be fair to keep the past against you". She told him, with her smile still in place. "I forgive you Lance". She extended, and his smile grew wider. It was a beautiful sight to see. She quickly allow her eyes to assess him. His dark hair was dishevelled. It looked as if he'd just come out of bed. He had sharp jawlines and his lips were so inviting, his green eyes were studying her promptly and she find her eyes landing on his lips again and quickly averted her eyes. Why did she had the sudden urge to taste them? What was she thinking?
"Well that's good news". He said smiling. "Probably you should tell that overprotective boyfriend of yours the good news". He added, somehow his tone sound bitter.
"Boyfriend?" She asked, her eyebrows drew together in confusion. What was he talking about?
"You know the guy who seems be the owner of your every action". He said bitterly, not meeting her eyes. Realisation dawned on her and she fought the urge to bursts into fits of laughter.
"Oh you mean Bryan...he is not my boyfriend...I mean we don't see each other that way". She told him. For a moment she thought she saw him sigh in relief but then his dazzling smile cover every action she thought she had seen. "So when can we get started on the project?" She quickly changed the subject.
He was surprised by her question. "How about tomorrow?" He asked. She nod her head in agreement with a smile on her face.
They sat in silence for a moment and Samantha couldn't find herself breaking the silence. She glance at Lance and saw that he was doing the same to her with something in his eyes. She couldn't quite tell what it was but it sent a small shiver down her spine.
"Here". He said taking off his jacket. It was obvious he took her shivering the wrong way and she shook her head to let him know that it wasn't because she was cold but he didn't seem to notice. He leaned close while fixing his jacket on her and for a moment her breathing ceased. His scent was so intoxicating and she wanted to lean into it. To be able to inhale his masculine scent. She looked into his face and same that he was so concentrated on fixing his jacket on her. Her eyes landed on his lips and it was then his eyes landed on hers. Her breath hitched as they stared at each other in silence.
It was like the world stopped and they were the only two that existed in that very moment. Lance leaned in and she find herself leaning in as well. Their lips connected and she felt the warmth and sweetness of his mouth on hers. She closed her eyes. He tasted of peppermint and she could taste the faint linger of beer in his mouth. At that very moment everything felt right. His lips caressed hers gentle and hers move shyly against his. She didn't know what she was doing but as his move rhythmically against hers it was like she forget everything. His started to move with urgency against hers and he gently suck on her bottom lips. His tongue teases her lips as if asking for entrance and she gasped. He used that as his opportunity and he places his tongue in her mouth, tasting her. It was a wonderful feeling.
She could hear her heart beating loudly in her ears and could feel his as well. They were so caught up in the moment that they almost didn't her the rumbling of keys in the front door. She quickly drew back as their breathing became ragged. She started to panicked. She felt shocked. She quickly stand as Lance stared at her as if asking what he'd done wrong. She quickly tossed his jacket at him and headed for the front door.
"Samantha good to see you here". Caroline said with a huge smile on her face while her husband Leonard stroll behind her. "You look pale sweety. Are you unwell?" She asked placing a hand on Samantha's forehead.
"Um...hi Mr and Mrs. Collins...actually I'm not feeling too well. I was just heading over". She said, her voice still hasn't retired from the ragged breathing.
"Oh dear. Get some rest. Good night". Caroline said looking towards her son with a curious expression on her face.
With that said, Samantha exited the house as quickly as her feet could take her not even sparing them one glance.
