(Listen to I'll Miss You by Alicks)
"Because..." He paused, I searched his eyes even more. I knew I wouldn't find anything. He looked down to his phone in his pocket that ringed, "Just remember...if anything happens. Anything bad. Anything mean. Anything that will destroy you. I care about you. And, I did it so you won't get hurt." He states as he gives me a small peck on the lips, leaving me dumbfounded as he ran to his car.
His car starts as he hurriedly drove away. I looked down to the ground as I sigh, "I'm not falling." I state as I decide to climb up to my room window and sleep in my room.
___
I woke up to my father's soft voice, "Wake-y, Wake-y." He states as I groaned and turned away from him, "You went to a party, I know. You smell like alcohol." He points out.
"Yeah, that's cool, Dad." I state as he sighed, "Esther, did you remember to pack for the camp—"
"No." I intercepted as I sat up on the bed, "Can you get out of my room now?"
"But, it's really dark in her—" He reaches for the blinds, "Dad, no!"
The light from the outside hit my eyes as I screeched and tucked myself back into bed, "My eyes! My eyes!" I exclaim as he chuckles, "Pack your bags. It's almost afternoon. You have about an hour."
"What? Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" I ask from the blanket, "I tried, but you didn't budge." He says.
"Close the blinds!" I shout as he does as I say, "Well, I'll leave you to it, then." He states, I could feel him smiling as he goes out of my room and shuts the door. I looked at my clock, it was 11:11 A.M.
I close my eyes and breathed in, I wish...my plan would work. I slowly open my eyes as I sighed, "I'm such a child."
I get up and get one of my small luggage bags and a backpack as I try and find the ticket on my nightstand. One I found it, I looked at how long I would be gone for. It was four weeks, something like a... Like a bootcamp. I guess.
I hear a shifting sound, "Oh shi—" The voice came from my window as I look back to see Jacob almost tripping since his foot got caught in something that I couldn't really see, "Uh, what are you—what are you doing here, Jacob?" I ask.
Once his foot got out, he looked up and smiled, "I— uh— Well, I wanted to pick you up. If that was okay?" He asks as I smile, "My dad's dropping me off to the camp site."
"Oh, uh... That's okay. I'll see you at camp then—"
"No, no, no." I state as I jog to him and grab his wrist before he could leave, "Stay."
He smiles, "I kind of need help in packing, too." I state as I notice a bruise on his arm, right under his sleeve, "You've got a—"
"Oh, that." He says, surprised. He lowers his sleeve a little, "I fell. Don't— uh— Don't worry about it." He smiles as I nod. I show him my closet, "You can choose my outfits." I smile.
"Wow, I thought you'd have a lot of leather and dark and—"
"Emo things?" I chuckle as he nods, "Yeah. Well, here." He states whilst getting two tye-dye shirts that were pink and blue and two jeans, just outfits of mine two of each from dresses and shorts and crop tops and sleeveless tops. Aside from sweatshirts, he got four of those. He added one of my favorite shoes and flip flops.
"Okay, all done." He states as I smile, "Thank you." I state.
"You're really being the good girl, huh? But, you're welcome." He states. We look in each others eyes for a brief moment.
Until, my door opens, "What? Jacob? What are you doing here?" My father's voice asks as Jacob rubs the back of his neck, "Helping your daughter pack— uh— Sir."
"Well, do you want to go with us in the car?" He asks, "I could drive you there."
"Oh, no need, sir. My friend is driving me there. He's waiting for me outside...uh, in his car." Jacob states as my father nods, "Suit yourself."
"Well, I got to go and take a...shower." I state as they both look at me, "You know, hygiene and all that stuff."
"Oh, I'll be going, too." Jacob smiles as he was about to exit through the window, "Uh, Jacob."
"Yeah?" He asks whilst looking at me, "You can pass through the, uh, front door?" I state as he nods, "Yep. That was what I was going to do. I just thought looking out the window was...cool. Nice...grass." He states while looking out the window.
"I'll get going." He states as he goes out my bedroom door, "Bye, Mr. Maxwell."
My father looks at me and sighs, "Man, your friend looks kinda muscular. I've been sucking up my stomach this whole time trying to not look as if I was the one who eat burgers every day."
"But, you do eat burgers everyday, Dad." I state, "Jacob eats burgers, too."
"How is he so thin?"
"He's sixteen, Dad." I reply.
"Oh, you know when I was that age, all the ladies would come to me. Usually, at my house and–"
"Dad, no need for your...past life, nor what kind of fifty shades of grey type thing you'd do in your house."
"What's fifty shades of grey?" He asks, "I'll go search it up."
"No! Dad, it's just uh... you know what? Nevermind. Go search it up or whatever." I state as he looks at his watch, "Oh! We're almost late. Hurry!"
____
My dad helped me bring in my stuff as he smiles at me through the mirror, "Just a reminder, Esther. We're not keeping you in there because we can't control you. We love you, and we want you to have fun, mingle with people." He states as I nod.
"Just remember that we always love you, okay? If anything goes bad. Call us." He smiles as I nod, "I...uh, love you, Dad."
I was a bit nicer to my parents than usual people. It's because I truly did love them, I would choose them between anyone.
Sooner or later, I saw the camp. There were cars and some people our ages. I noticed Loren who was chomping on bubblegum with her phone in her hands. I also notice Hunter with Jacob whilst wearing strange ranger-like uniforms. They probably changed when they got here and greeted the others.
A man stands behind them, his arms crossed and his face was a stern smile. Alongside the man, a woman was beside him who gave lovely smiles and waves to the people.
I looked at my father who smiled, "Go on, Es. They're waiting."
"Dad, I...I love you and Mom. So, uh...Bye." I smile as I get out of the car as I get the luggages from the trunk.
I hear fast footsteps as I look at the side of our car to see Jacob smiling at me, "Hey, Esther."
"Hey." I smile as I look at his uniform, "So, is this supposed to be worn in the camp or—"
"No, just for the staff." He says, making quotation marks with with his fingers, "Oh, thank the Lord." I sigh as he chuckles.
"I see you wore something light." He states, "How many tie-dye t-shirts do you even have?"
"More than you are thinking of." I chuckle. I wore a rainbow tie-dye shirt along with shorts and pink sneakers.
"I'll help you with that." He states as he helps with putting down the luggage from the trunk. He wore my backpack, "I'll carry this for you."
I nod and bring the one luggage bag and walked to the camp. I saw Loren and smiled as she did, too. I wink as she winked back.
This plan will work.
I'm sure of it.
