Luna, My Love

The Alpha of the Silvermoon pack sighed, looking at the clock and the piles of papers on his desk. It was 10:57 pm and he wanted to be in bed with his mate and their son, who, today, had his first birthday. But, judging by the piles on his desk, that wasn’t going to happen. The room was silent except for the tall grandfather clock in the corner. Well, it was silent until someone knock on the door.

 “Come in.” said the Alpha, not taking his eyes off of the piles of work. The Alpha smile as his Beta, Michael, entered the room. Michael's son, West, was exactly 1 month younger than the Alpha’s son. Meaning that he will be the next Beta, just like Aaron will be the next Alpha like his father.

 “Alpha Tom, I have two women here to speak with you. They say it’s urgent.” the Beta said in a hurry.

 “Very well, bring them in.” ordered Alpha Tom. Two women entered in the room, the eldest one looking serious while the younger looked rather frighten. The younger woman look to be in her early twenties, with curly dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. She had high cheekbones and large lips. The eldest looked to be in her late twenties with softer features than the other. She had light brown hair and dark brown eyes. By their scent, the Alpha could tell that they were wolves as well. But the main thing that stuck out, was that the eldest was pregnant, almost as if she were do any second.

 “Alpha Tom, we apologize the inconvenience for coming here this late at night. I am Danica Clearlight and this is my sister Reese. My sister and I have urgent news.” said the eldest calmly, “You see, our pack, the Clearview pack, has been attacked by rogues and is no longer there since our Alpha and Beta and their children have been killed. The attack left few survivors, leaving Reese, myself, and 13 other werewolves packless. Most have moved to the Moonshine Pack, but I wont be joining any. You see, my mate has passed so I am going to die soon like the other 3 survivors had after their mates died. I have an hour before I go, and in that I time I will be induced to have my child.”.

 “I understand about the attack, and I am willing to take any survivors. But why come here if all you wish to tell me is that you will die?” the Alpha asked.

 “Well you see, when my child is born, a witch that I have hired will take away the werewolf part of her. My child will then be human. And I have come to tell you this because my sister will raise my child in the town that is here with the lone wolves, not in the pack house.” said Danica. The Alpha just gaped at her.

 “Do you understand what will happen when you do this?!? Whoever is your child’s mate will die! You’re killing someone and your child’s wolf! I can’t allow this!” Tom shouted. Reese looked even more nervous now, but her sister seemed still calm after the Alpha’s outburst.

 “I understand your concern. But, this is my child and everything is already planned. The witch is on her way here. Now if you’ll excuse us, I have an hour till I pass. So I need to leave now.” Danica said seriously, but started to sound rushed. The women started to leave when the Alpha got a thought. He needed to see the impossible happen. He quickly thought of an excuse then spoke.

 “I will not allow the child and your sister to stay on my land, unless I come to see this take place. I need to see that this is happening. If this is not true and you are doing this to stay on my land, I will pronounce you as rogues.” Tom stated sternly. Danica nodded and then walked down the stairs, exiting the pack house heading towards a car.

 “I’ll be back soon, you’re in charge. If my wife wonders where I am, tell her that I had a last minute meeting with the Mountain Rain Pack and that I’ll be back soon.” The Alpha said to his Beta. The Beta nodded and the Alpha got into the car with the two sisters.

 It was about a 10 minute drive, but it seemed even longer with the silence. Tom wondered if Danica will even have enough time to do all she had planned. They soon arrived at a small house close to the town, this was to be the house that the child will be raised in. There was a car already parked there with a women, who must be the witch, coming out of the house. She smiled and greeted the sisters with hugs, and from the looks of it, they must have been good friends with each other.

 “Well, shall we get started? I have everything already set up. I’m Enya by the way.” said the witch, shaking the Alpha’s hand. She lead them inside and got Danica set up in the master bed room. The house itself was rather small and was all one floor. It had a master bed room and a smaller room set up at the nursery. The kitchen, dining room, living room, and the two bathrooms were just as small as the rest of the house. The master bedroom was filled with already lit candles and a large bed that Danica was now laying on. Reese stayed next to Tom still looking nervous and continued to look at the clock.

 “This will start the contractions. You focus on the labor and I’ll focus on the witch part. Reese, can you help Danica please?” said the witch as she gave Danica a cup with some red liquid in it. Within minutes, Danica went into labor, though she showed little emotion throughout it. The candles started to flicker, while Tom stayed off to the side observing the whole scene taking place.

 Enya’s eye rolled back into her head as she chatted latin words. Danica was now started to sweat and scream while Reese tried to encourage her to keep going. The Alpha had never seen such a graphic site. This all continued for 45 minutes till all of a sudden, the candles went out and the screaming and chanting had stopped. The sound of an infant's cry filled the room. Danica drop on the bed exhausted. Reese patted her arm gently and took the child to get cleaned up. Enya went over to sit next to Danica to make sure she was okay. The Alpha tried to look for the presence of another wolf, but there was none. They really had taken away the wolf of the baby.

 “It’s a girl, Danica! Just like you said!” said Reese happily “Do you want to see her?”. Reese walked over to show Danica, but Danica shook her head.

 “No, I don’t want to see her at all. I want nothing to do with her, I’m going to die soon so I don’t want to get attached.” said Danica with tears in her eyes, but she started to look more tired. This was it. Danica was going to die.

 “But, don’t you even want to see her? She is yours after all.” said Enya. Danica shook her head no. They all knew Danica was going to die soon. All the girls started to cry, while the Alpha remained in the corner. He never understood women.

 “Can I just see her face though.” Danica said. Reese smiled, happy that her sister gave in.  Reese came over and sat next to Danica showing her the baby.

 “Oh, Nora you look so beautiful, my little Angel.” said Danica, “You can pick her middle name, Reese. Oh, my princess I love you. You’re going to be so beautiful, my love.” Danica said. Tom knew she didn’t want to get attached, but Nora was her only child. So he forgave her for giving in. For the next 10 minutes Danica continued to promise sleeping Nora that she loves her and how beautiful she’ll be.

 “Nora, I want to give you something.” sad Danica. Danica took off the necklace she had been wearing and gave it to Reese, who put it around the baby’s neck. Danica smiled, petting Nora’s head, and looked at everyone.

“Thank you guys so much for all you’ve done, and Tom, thank you for allowing Nora to live on your land. I love you Reese and I love you my little Nora.” said Danica has her eyelids started to grow heavy. Reese started to cry along with Enya. Soon the room became cold and Tom could feel the room become quieter with one less heart beat. Danica was gone. Reese looked at the Alpha and they both nodded at each other. Tom left, leaving behind the women that had done the impossible.
