Chapter 3
Mikayla's POV:
"Okay, so the first step of this dance is an immediate aerial from the lead dancer." Abby says. "I'm placing Mikayla as the leader today to show me what she can do. Mikayla, start from the corner of the stage and do and aerial."
I nod and start out at the grey mats. I throw my arms out, run a little and do an aerial through the air and land gracefully on my feet. I'm not bragging, but aerials are one of my best tricks.
"Whoa! Mikayla! That's probably the best I've ever seen in this studio! Congrats!" Abby claps.
I see in the corner of my eye that the girl, Maddie, is staring at me with a hint of envy in her eyes.
"And then you leap and twirl, twirl, twirl, leap." Abby commands.
I leap and then twirl ten times and then leap to the center of the studio.
"Wow, you're a good dancer, Mikayla." Abby smiles at me. "Alright, so the rest of you come in with a leap. it has to be at the same time. And then you circle around Mikayala and twirl. Mikayla, you do an air split and land."
As the girls circle around me, I leap in the air throwing my legs out and then land on the floor, in a perfect split. They twirl around me and I can see that Maddie is staring at me.
"Then, YOU guys do an air split and land, and Mikayla, you get up and twirl in the center of the group." Abby tells us.
The girls drop down and I leap up and twirl on my tip toes in my dance shoes.
"Then all of you get up and throw one of your hands back and lean to the side." Abby says. "Then, Mikayla, you get out from the center, moving your shoulders up and down with a cocky smile on your face."
I move my shoulders up and down slowly, smiling in a sort of arrogant way.
"And then you guys surround her again and do an aerial." Abby says.
"And then do a split and Mikayla, you twirl again and then do a tilt and that's the end of your dance."
I twirl around (I'm getting a bit dizzy, lol) and then raise my leg up high, balancing on my tippy toes.
"WHoo!!! Good job, Mikayla! You'll be doing a solo too. Maddie and Chloe, you two will also both get solos. Paige, Kendall and Nia will be doing a trio." Abby says. "Anyways, let's run it one more time and then train for the solos!"
I start at the corner of the studio. Then I run and then flip over, doing an aerial and land perfectly on my feet. I leap and then twirl, twirl, twirl, and leap again to the center. The other girls leap towards me in unison and circle around me. I leap into the air, doing an air aplit and land in a aplit, too on the ground. The girls twirl around me. They stop and do an air split and land. I leap up and twirl. All of us then throw our hands and heads back, leaning over to the side. Then, I step forward, out of the group, moving my shoulders up and down, smiling. They surround me and do an aerial and then drop down to a split and I twirl and tilt, raising my foot high over my head, toes pointed straight and perfect.
"And that's how you do it!" Abby claps. "Mikayla, you are probably the best dancer now. We are so glad to have you in the ALDC team."
I beam back at her.
"Alright, girls, Maddie, it's your solo. time!" Abby says.
