♥ Interview ♥
“So Sam is about to go under the knife,” Charles started slowly, rolling the thought around in his mind. “And you came here.”
“He would have wanted me here. And here I am.” Charles nodded, snorting quietly in amusement.
“Well, I must say it is a pleasure having you here Kennedy. Your story...what you did for that boy. What you are doing for that boy right now. It’s amazing.” My cheeks heated red with a blush. “I’m glad that you could make it up here today to meet with me, and I wish you the best of luck with whatever is to come.”
I smiled, chewing my lip as my phone vibrated again in my pocket. It was just a text, I told myself as I tried to allow myself to relax. It was just a text. In all honesty it was probably just Tricia trying to get a hold of me to brag about her family vacation down in Mexico.
Charles caught noticed my moment of distraction.
“Would you like to answer that?” He asked.
“Are we done yet?”
“Well, no. There are some more questions I have for you about your past experiences.”
“Then no.” Charles’ eyebrow rose, but he made no further comment as he flipped through his documents.
“Okay, so looking at your past grades for the last three years, and up to this current semester at your high school it shows that you have a weighted GPA of 4.2.” He started. I nodded.
“I’ve taken several AP and college courses through the local university, the grades for those classes are weighted.” Charles nodded.
“And unweighted is a 3.9.” He looked up at me over the papers. “Is that correct?”
“I got an A minus in English ten B. I-as I’ve told you through my story already I’m dyslexic. The class focussed mainly on grammar and I-it went over my head.” Charles nodded.
“And candy striping at the local clinic?”
“Since I was eight.”
“Summer courses at the local college and seminars attended with your father. What field do you plan to go into when it comes to furthering your education in the medical field?”
“I plan on furthering my studies before making my final decision. I don’t need to know that until after I finish my major.” Charles nodded.
“Respectable choice. Respectable choice. Well,” he looked down at the timer on his desk. “It appears that we are all finished here,” he rose from his seat and offered me a hand. “As I said before, it was a pleasure meeting you Ms. Shoemacher.” I smiled, taking his hand and thanking him for having me as he led me over to the door.
“I will try and get back to you personally as soon as a decision is made.” I nodded, entering the hallway and waiting for him to finish as he stood in the doorway.
“Goodbye Kenendy, I look forward to seeing you in the near future.”
“You too, thank you.” He nodded and closed the door as I stood in the hallways. Alone. Quiet.
I sighed. It was over. All of that work, all of that stress and it was all over. Even looking back now I could say it was all worth it, but that didn’t alleviate what was crowding my mind as I tucked my hair behind my ear, heading over to the exit and to the parking lot. Sam was on my mind.
