*3rd person*
After an hour of hanging out at Dan's house, a key turns in the front door. Dan hears it and immediately jumps away for where the is cuddling up next to Phil with His head laying on phils chest.
Phil's eyebrows pull together in disappointment, but the doesn't say anything.
A minute later, Dan's dad walks into the living room, his eyes glancing toward Dan and Phil, who are now sitting on opposite ends of the couch.
A smile pulls over Dan's dad's face when seeing the two boys, a blush washing over Dan's face.
"Who is this handsome young man?" He says, leaning his arms on the couch between the two, looking over at Phil.
Phil awkwardly stumbles to his feet, offering Dan's father his hand, a blush of his own making its way onto his pale cheeks.
"M-my name is Philip Lester, sir. I-i mean Phil. Im P-Phil." He stutters out, intimidated by the older man, who the assumes to be the father of the boy he's crushing on.
"Well hello there Philip Lester, I mean Phil." He jokingly mocks the awkward boy, shaking his outstretched hand. He turns to Dan. "Is this the boy that I've heard so much about?"
Dan's eyes widen in horror. Did he really just?
"DAD!" Dan exclaims, embarrassed. He hides his face in his sleeve covered hands to conceal the redness on his face.
"What?" His dad says innocently.
Phil turns his face to the floor and bites his lip awkwardly.
Dans dad turns back to Phil. "I hope you've been treating him right." He says sternly.
"Dad, we're just friends!" Dan emphasises the word friends.
"What?" His dad says dramatically, putting his hand on his chest as if he's just been shot. "But you guys are so cute together!" (Literally me tho?)
"Ugh!" Dan throws his head back against the couch while Phil just stands there, giggling silently.
His dad turns back to Phil again.
"Im sorry if im making you uncomfortable, I didn't mean to assume that you're not straight." He apologises seriously.
"No, definitely not straight." Phil says quietly.
"Oh, perfect. Hey Dan, you've got a chance." He says to Dan.
"IM LEAVING!" Dan yells, stomping over to the stairs and making his way up to his room.
Phil looks up at the older man and smiles shyly.
"You can go comfort him. I just wanted to have some fun embarrassing him." He says, walking out of the room to the kitchen.
Phil makes his way up the stairs slowly to the open bedroom door. He peaks in to see Dan laying face first on his bed.
Phil chuckles, going over to sit down next to him.
Dan doesn't look up, just lets out and loud groan of frustration, making Phil giggle.
"Your dad seems nice."
Dan looks up to glare at the older boy.
"So, um." Phil starts, "are you actually not straight or was your dad just messing with me?" He asks quietly.
"Im pansexual." Dan says.
"Oh." Phil says, slightly confused. "Im not trying to sound offensive, but what does that mean?"
"It means I could date someone regardless of their sex, gender identity or gender expression. I still prefer males tho." He says this last part quietly.
"Oh, that's cool." Phil says. "I'm Pretty much just gay." He adds.
"Except for Sarah Michelle Gellar." They both say at the same time.
They erupt in a fit of giggles.
Dan stops laughing, spacing out and biting his lip.
"Whats wrong?"
Dan sighs, sitting up in the bed, not meeting Phil's eyes.
"I think in gonna go talk to my dad." He says.
Phil just nods, a small smile on his lips.
When Dan gets up, he plants a soft kiss on Phil's cheeks. He pauses for a second, blushing, before walking out of the room without another word.
Phil sits on the bed, unsure of what to do. He pulls out his phone as his heart beats hard in his chest.
Thoughts of Dan travel around in his mind, taking up all of his thoughts.
Dan isn't straight.
Dan might be moving in with him.
Dan is beautiful.
