Draco was quiet for the rest of the hour in potions. He could still feel where Potters hand had connected with his, for there was a slight tingling. He hadn't expected that to happen, but then again he hadn't been prepared for anything that's happened over the last week or so that was a result of the rotten potion that he had been given.
While Draco worked away, not once did his partner make eye contact again, or even try to talk to him for that matter. Draco for some reason, regretted his reaction to their meeting. While he hated (or so he thought he hated) the boy that sat next to him, he couldn't argue with the fact that he liked the attention he was given. It was the most attention that Potter had ever given him without trying to fight him.
As soon as the bell signaling the end of class rang, Draco made a beeline for the door, only to be stopped by his godfather and mentor.
"Mister Draco could you please stay, I have some things I'd like to discuss with you," Snape said. Draco cursed silently under his breath, not wanting to talk to the older man, for he was still peeved that the man had reprimanded him. He slowly turned around and started walking towards the front of the room, wishing for once that he could just be left alone.
It only took about a minute for the classroom to clear out, which is what Snape waited for, before speaking to his young student.
"You seem different Draco. You did not once throw an insult at Potter or sneer at him as you usually do. Is something going on?" Snape questioned. Draco prayed his face would not give anything away. The last person besides his father he would want knowing about his situation was Snape. Because then, the older man would intervene and be down his neck even more than he already was.
"I... I'm just tired. I didn't have much sleep last night and I think it's really affecting me," Draco lied. He hoped beyond belief that his face was convincing enough. His insides were squirming and writhing and all over the place.
"And why is it that you got no sleep?" Snape asked, knowing there was more to the story than the teen was letting on. He crossed his arms over his chest and peered into his ward's eyes, hoping to read them.
"Do we really need to go over my life?" Draco replied, more throwing a bit of venom in his voice to get the point across that he really did not want his personal life questioned. "I got no sleep because I was helping Crabbe and Goyle finish their essays, someone has got to make sure they don't fail out of every class."
Snape seemed to consider Draco's words before finally sighing.
"Alright, I'll let you off the hook now, but Draco, you better get some sleep or I'll be forced to act as your godfather and make you." he warned. Draco nodded before walking quickly out of the classroom. Not paying attention much to where he was walking, Draco nearly walked into a wall before catching himself last second. He had hoped no one saw but unfortunately for him, that wasn't the case.
"That's a fine looking wall isn't it Malfoy," Ron Weasley called out, while trying to wipe the tears from his eyes due to his laughter.
"Sod off Weasel, I don't have time for you." Draco retaliated. His already low spirits turned sour when he saw Potter turn the corner shortly after Ron called out to him. Before he could suffer any more embarrassment, Draco hastily made his way down towards the Slytherin common room. The whole time he walked he let his mind be consumed by none other than Harry Potter. He was starting to believe there would be no end in the continuous torture caused by the Gryffindor and wondered if giving in would be the best thing to do at that point. He sighed in defeat, he was tired. Tired of having feelings, tired of being mocked and ridiculed over the potion, and tired of not having anyone he could really confide in.
