Theodosia sat in the garden, sketching lilacs and humming a song her father sung to her as a child. She let her mind drift away for a while, thinking about all the good times she had when her family was whole. "Family." She whispered out loud. She then began dreaming of starting a family with Philip. They would have three children: two boys and one girl. The boys would be named Philip, obviously, and the girl would be named Marigold, after her favorite flower. She flipped the page of her sketchbook and began drawing her dream family. She was kneeling down as little Marigold gave her a lilac, and Philip was carrying Philip Jr on his shoulders. The four had smiles warming than the sun. "Whatcha drawing?" A voice said from behind her. She turned to see Philip peering over her shoulder. Theodosia snapped her sketchbook closed and stood up quickly. "N-nothing!" She blurted, her face turning red as she hid the book behind her back. "You're as very secretive girl. You know that?"
"W-what are you d-doing here?" She asked, looking down at her shoes. Philip tilted her chin up to look at him. "Why, Miss Theodosia...are you nervous?" If it was possible, her face turned redder. Theo took a deep breath and conjured up all her strength. She pulled away and pushed the love of her life into the philodendrons. "Don't touch me." She growled, secretly proud of herself. She then turned on her heel and strode away...or she would have if she had noticed the twig in front of her.
The poor girl tripped and landed back first into the Queen Ann's Lace, where a swarm of butterflies were sitting. The startled butterflies fluttered around Theo while Philip watched. "Oh, how the tables have turned." He laughed, standing above the embarrassed girl. "Just help me up, you imbecile." She said. Still chuckling, Philip held out his hand and pulled Theo up.
The two were inches apart, their noses practically touching. A white butterfly landed on the tip of Theodosia's nose, causing her to laugh and lose her balance yet again. This time, Philip saw it coming and caught the girl right before she hit the ground. "Careful." He joked, earning a glare from Theo.
"You never answered me." She whispered. "Why are you here?"
"I'm here for..." Theodosia's eyes widened as he lifted her up bridal style. Was this it? The moment where he kissed her? She closed her eyes and braced herself for the greatest moment of her life.
"...your father. My father wanted me to give him a message." He set her on the edge of the fountain and winked at her before turning away and walking to the mansion, leaving Theo sitting alone, flustered and confused.
This boy would be the death of her.
