"Is he dead?" a voice sounded from above the boys cold, beaten and bloody body.
Tobias's head shot up, followed by spastic choking. The water from his lungs spilled from his lips while he gasped, his body fell back against the bed after a moment. He was awake, shivering and twitching still.
"It's okay, love. You're going to be okay, you're indoors." A soft voice came from beside the bed. He looked up at the figure, it was a younger male with shaggy hair. His heart was pounding in his chest and he felt cold, unbelievably cold.
"where am I?" he asked, his voice hoarse from choking all the water up. He went to lean up but Linton, the other male, gently placed his hand on his chest to keep him from sitting up.
"Don't move, you'll rip your stitches, or hurt yourself even more" he said. He sat down beside Tobias on the bed, his hand moving up to comb through the short strands of the other males hair. "You took quite the fall I'm assuming, you're lucky the waters carried you here. There's no telling what could've happened to you if you continued downstream." Linton spoke in a soft tone, his fingers continuing to gently comb through his hair.
Tobias's eyes moved up to the other male, he was quite good looking but he wasn't about to fall for someone he didn't know. Although it did feel nice to have someone so pretty helping him out. "I fell off the bridge in my village, I need to get back.." his voice cracked, his hand moved up to rest on his forehead. "Simon.. oh god" he let out a soft groan. "He must feel awful about this all, and it wasn't completely his fau–" the other male made him stop talking by pressing a finger to his lips.
"Shh, you're not going anywhere yet. It'll be a day or two before you can even move properly" he said as he continued to use his other hand to soothe Tobias by brushing his fingers through his hair. "It's not too bad here, we'll keep you safe and warm" he whispered then brought his hand down to rub over his arm. "I'll get Mauro to put some more wood in the fire" he said in a soft tone, then he stood up to walk over to the taller male who was standing at the door.
Tobias closed his eyes and let out a gentle breath, his hand moved down to rest on his stomach. His eyes began to open when he heard the footsteps going over to the fire where the tall man began to put wood in the fire, and Linton had already left the room.
Mauro made sure the fireplace was full before he checked each of the windows to make sure they were all shut completely. "Stay in your room and you'll be safe from him" he said in a low tone, it made Tobias's heart race. But before he could question, he already walked out of the room and shut the door behind him.
Tobias waited a good minute or two before he sat up and pulled the covers down, which he was completely naked beneath them. He brought his hand down to push the covers off his legs that were thinly wrapped in cloth. He bit down on his lip and slowly pulled his legs up so he could see how bad the pain was, and it wasn't half as bad as he expected. He brought his attention over to a silhouette outside his window that dashed by quickly. He grabbed the covers and tugged them over his body again and quickly laid down, he was going to take the advice of the taller male and keep to himself in the room. The silhouette was large, and quite terrifying the more he thought about it.
He buried himself under the blanket and kept himself as quiet as he possibly could. Twenty minutes must have passed before he heard the door open, he tugged the blankets down to look at the door with a glint of fear in his eyes, but it was just Linton again.
"I brought you some tea" he spoke in a low tone, he walked over to the bed and sat the tea down beside him. He crawled onto the bed with Tobias and brought his hand up to run through the short hair. "you seem so.. tense" his voice was nearly angelic, the accent in his tone was very thick and soothing. Much like Tobias's.
