I had to keep re-writing this chapter 12 times and I'm still not even completely happy with it. Sorry it's short ;-; I just lost inspiration half way through rewriting it.

The rivers' rapids lapped at Max, who was struggling to keep his head above water.

The freezing cold water stung around his entire body, making it feel numb. He caught ahold of the riverside, grasping to pull himself out.

He hoisted himself up, climbing away from the relentless waves collapsing at his legs, keeping half of him under.

He crawled out from the murky river, catching his breath on the land, freezing water dripping from every inch of his soaked body.

He caught his bearings, looking around to spot the two men in the water. He spotted a hand trying to reach out from beneath the waves, and Max's first instinct was to grab ahold and help them out.

Once he grabbed Adam's hand he grabbed the collar of Ross's shirt, who was clung to Adam. He used every bit of his strength to pull them out.

They reached land, coughing and shivering like he had on the ground beside the river.

"Th..Thank you." Adam said, out of breath.

Max only nodded in response. He helped the two men up, and saw Ross' leg crooked. He helped the two up, staying close to the smaller boy to make sure he didn't fall.

"I'm Max by the way." Max told them, remembering that they hadn't had a very good introduction.

"I'm Adam, this is Ross." The tall dark brunet replied, then pointing to the younger boy.

"We should do something about your leg." Max pointed out, turning to Ross. He nodded nervously.

The leg wasn't broken, the blood was just from a harder impact impact. It was just dislocated.

They managed to pop it back in, making Ross slightly uncomfortable and try not to yell in pain.

"Are you better now?" Adam asked Ross, who only nodded shyly.

The three looked around, unknowing of where to go from there.

"There could be demons anywhere. It isn't safe here." Adam said, right when they heard a small snap.

They whipped their heads around to see a new pack of demons, snarling and nearing the three men.

"W-we need to go..." Ross breathed, backing away, but turning around to see a few more demons.

Max held on to both Ross and Adam's arms, knowing this was the end.

"Even though I've known you two for about five minutes, I'm thankful you guys survived this long." Max told them. "I, I guess saving me up there was pretty pointless."

"We won't die, not now. We've come too far." Adam protested, but the demons grew closer.

Ross let a tear escape his eye, and sighed. "I should've listened to Shelby..." He whispered to himself.

Darkness had seemed to absorb them, the air becoming thick and hard to breathe. The world got dimmer and dimmer, until all they could see was nothing.

Again, sorry for it being bad and stuff. :(
