My eyes shot open as the dream surfaced again. The worst thing is that it wasn't fake, it happened before. I could still feel the pins in my arms. Instead of letting the tears flow, I held them back. I had to be strong now. Not just for me, but also Caroline and Skylar.
I rolled over to see the time on the blue alarm clock that sat on the nightstand next to king sized bed. The clock read 5:00 AM. I guess it's back to the daily grind again. As I left the warmth of the large bed, I thought about what I had in store for the day.
"Show Mate around pack!" Carter yelled in my head. I chuckled. I quickly got changed into a pair of blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and a black leather jacket. As I left the gray room, I thought of what I needed to get done before Skylar woke up. Fill out reports, work out, supervise training, research packs, interrogate rogues and captures, and much, much more.
As I headed to my office, where I spent most of my time. I began to think about what and who I would show to Skylar after we ate breakfast.
As two hours past, and I had less work than I started with, it was time to head to the dining room to make sure that breakfast was ready for the pack. Not yet having a luna before now, meant that I had to do the luna job as well as the alpha job.
I walked into the blue-tiled kitchen to see the kitchen staff in full swing. Doing everything from cutting fruit to frying bacon. I knew that I couldn't help, even if I wanted to.
I heard the pitter-patter of the children of the pack come down the staircases as the clock turned to 7:30. Although I come off as cold to adults, I've always had a soft spot for children, ever since I turned eighteen.
I stood in the doorway of the kitchen, blocking the pups from following the delicious smells that were wafting into the rest of the house. Although I love the pups, I also enjoy not angering the rest of the pack when they don't get their Saturday morning breakfast. I went outside and took a look at what the small wolves were up to during training. I looked down at my watch, 7:42. I went inside to see the pack members slowly come to the dining room.
"When will we eat?" A small pup asked. "As soon as I get my mate down here we can all eat," I responded. People overheard our conversation and gasped. Everyone started asking me questions about her. "Hold on," I said, "I'll go get her for you." I ran upstairs and followed the sweet smell of my mate into her room. As soon as I came in I stared. She was so beautiful. Her hair fell over her face; It was adorable. She mumbled and sat up a bit. Her eyes were still closed. She sat there for a bit, then mumbled, "Ugh, what time is it?" I didn't want to startle her when she got up, so I replied, "Almost eight. Get up sleepy head." She sprang up. She looked at me, eyes widened. "How long have you been in here?" She asked. I laughed. "Not too long," I said, "Do you not want me to wake you up? It's again, almost eight. The pack is waiting for you to eat." After I said that, she looked sad. She probably doesn't like the fact that the pack is waiting for her. That's one thing about being a luna though. "Oh," She said sadly, "I'm sorry. You didn't have to wait for me."
"Why would we not? The whole pack is excited to meet their future Luna." She winced. I didn't know why, but it made my wolf nervous.
"I'll be right down," she said. "I don't need to do much really, considering I don't have any clothes to change into." she continued, her voice falling a little towards the end.
"Oh, but of course you do," I responded in a reassuring tone. "Care asked me to give these to you." I held out the stack of women's clothes in my hand. "Get changed and come down, okay?" I finished, for I knew the pack would be growing restless with excitement and hunger.
"Yeah," she said, a confused look on her face. "Thanks," she continued. I felt my cheeks grow a shade of pink. I smiled and quickly left the room.
