Max Thunderman: Betrayed!

Chapter One

Note: Max doesn't know Henry's secret identity yet.

I walked alongside the road for awhile. Cars drove by like normal and civilians went in and out of stores like normal. I kept glancing over my shoulder to see if the Hero League was following me, but no one was there. My stomach growled, it's been about seven hours since I've last eaten something decent. I dug through my bag and found my wallet, I had $50, enough for a few days if I spend wisely. There was a junk shop nearby with a blonde kid and a brown haired kid working at the front desk across the street. I opened the door and the blonde's eyes looked like he knew me from somewhere. He told the other guy to go to the back, whatever that meant, then said, "what are you doing here?" I sighed and leaned against the counter,

"look guy, I just came in here to see if you guys knew a good place to eat." He looked at me with slight disbelief in his eyes, but said,

"oh. My bad, you just look like someone I used to know. There's a great food place a few stores down the street in that direction." He pointed to the right side of the store.

"Thanks," I replied. The boy glanced over his shoulder at the back of the store then asked me,

"what are you really doing here Max?" I jumped,

"what are you talking about?! How do you know who I am?" He sighed then said,

"I'm Kid Danger, remember the Toddler and the train thing?" I nodded,

"I had to help your boss blow his nose!" The guy held out his hand,

"Henry." I shook his hand while saying,

"Max, nice to meet you." Henry asked me,

"so, where's the rest of the family? I was hoping you brought Phoebe with you." I stiffened when he brought up Phoebe. "What happened Max?" I sighed and sat down at the counter,

"it's nothing..." He let go of my hand then sat down on his side of the counter,

"I'm not stupid, I know it's something. Tell me," I gave in and said,

"fine. Phoebe overheard me saying I wasn't going to steal her powers and took it the wrong way." Henry's eyes hardened,

"what did she do?" I sighed,

"She took my powers from me using this orb." I dug it out of my back pack. "Then Dark Meyhem showed up and we had to fight together. After that my family ran into the room and my dad disowned me and then Phoebe broke our twin connection. I ended up teleporting here of all places. I remembered seeing the Man-Copter fly out from this general direction to the train. I just never thought I would actually see you again." Henry hugged me and said,

"hey! You can stay with us!" Then Captain Man came in the room dressed up in the full costume get-up. "What are you doing Captain Man!" The Swellview hero answered,

"I am taking this traitor to the Hero League Henry, you shouldn't have told him who you were in the first place!" Henry looked pissed at him,

"Max isn't a traitor Ray!" The man who I used to think of as a hero shot a laser gun at me. Henry used super speed -since when did he have super speed?!- and jumped in front of the gun.

"Henry!" I screamed, Henry knelt down and grabbed his stomach. Captain Man stared at him in horror, I guess he never thought he would shoot Henry.

"Kid!" He glared at me then knelt by his side. Two other kids, Charlotte was one of them and the other guy from earlier ran out from the back part of the shop.
