Lawfully DysfunctionalDELILAH
So, a little birdy told me that you're going out with someone named Scott?FREYA
And where did you hear that?I replied quickly to Delilah's sudden message. I hadn't told anybody that I went out for lunch, so unless she was there, I didn't see any way that she would know.
'Don't you my dearie?' My inner voice asked me. 'The person's name rhymes with Schimitri?'
'Shut up Rumplestiltskin.' I growled at myself while my eyes widened, but why would he tell her? He had no reason to do that.
DELILAH
From someone who's name rhymes with Schimitri.FREYA
Hey! Get out of my head!Maybe that's the reason that Delilah and I ended up being friends, my inner (bitch of a) voice was just like her. I shook my head and waited anxiously for her reply.
DELILAH
WhatFREYA
Ughh, nothing! Can you come to my house in the evening? The pops and momps wanted to meet you anyways.DELILAH
Is 8 o'clock good enough? I want to hear all about this date of yoursFREYA
It WASNT a dateDELILAH
sure, whatever you sayShe wasn't going to believe me easily, but I didn't want her to know that I sort of liked Scott. The last time I liked someone was around three years back and that had been a horrible experience, a major contributor to that had been Delilah and my parents. Those two also needed to learn to keep their nose out of my love life, atleast till the boy properly made me his girlfriend.
I let out a frustrated grunt and tried to get back to my work, but it was tough. Dimwit and his rattling was swimming in my mind like a persistent guppy that was trying to escape the sharks. I was thinking about that boy more that what was healthy.
'Boy? More like man.' My inner voice sang.
I needed a new brain as soon as possible, had transplants started yet?
'Stop day dreaming at work Miss Palmer, it's not a habit that will make your record look good.' Elise Payton walked by my desk and placed a thick folder on my table. It had "junk files" scribbled across in dark ink that made me raise my eyebrows slightly.
'Should I shred these for you Miss Payton?' I asked her politely, gathering the file in my hand and standing up to go to the shredding machine located in the copy room.
'Shred? Absolutely not. I want you to go through all these before you leave the office.' She informed me, checking her nails that looked chewed off.
'Are you hoping to find something important?' I asked again, scrutinizing the file with utmost interest.
'Those are to be thrown later, but for now all I need you to do is go through them. Just a little bit of light reading.' The last line threw me into Harry Potter world, the dialogue for me was symbolic of Hermione Granger and her love for reading, and although Elise (mostly) wasn't a witch, she did seem to have the same crazy hair and strict aura around her.
'Sure Ma'am.' She smiled and left, she wasn't wearing her usual high heels, so the clicking sound that accompanied her everywhere she went was absent. Her worn out shoes gave her the appearance of a pretty chill boss, if only she didn't dislike me.
I had been given a desk close to her secretary, who at the moment was somewhere out on business. So I made my way to her table and looked around to see if any body was approaching me. The drawer meant for personal items was locked and the key was still in the hole since she had to rush of urgently, so I removed the key and quickly hid it under a mountain of files.
That little prank made me feel satisfied, her job was permanent, so I couldn't do anything to her except sweetly smile and roll my eyes once she turned. But what wasn't obvious couldn't hurt me.

By the time I had gone through a pile of unimportant files my stomach was growling. I blushed, and made my way to the pantry where a coffee maker was present like a gift from heaven. It was no extra creamy, frothy Starbucks coffee, but it would have to suffice since my body was craving some caffeine.
'You're Delilah's friend aren't you?' Someone asked me while I added milk and sugar to my beverage. The girl who stood behind me was really short, with an stunning smile. She seemed like the type of person who skipped along roads singing Disney songs and talking to animals.
'Delilah Litton?' I asked her for confirmation.
'Yup!' She said energetically. 'She was my classmate in school, we never spoke but I remember seeing you with her in Prom?'
'That girl has an aversion to boys, so she brought me as her date.' I grinned. 'And I took her for my senior prom the year before because we had a pact.'
'That's so cool, I for one had to go with my idiotic ex, it was a disaster.' I moved away from the coffee maker so that she could use the machine.
'What's your name?' I smiled at her.
'Tina Harley, what is yours?' She asked.
'Freya Palmer, nice to meet you.' We didn't shake hands since we both had a cup of hot liquid in our hands, but we did grin at each other, mine significantly larger than hers since she was the first person to befriend me in this office. It made me a little more relieved knowing that I would have someone to hang out with in my lunch breaks instead of my cell phone or relying on Scott's free time.

I know I was supposed to be off for a major portion of this year, but for some reason my writers block mysteriously disappeared when I deleted this app, so I had to redownload it, type it out and post it so that I didn't get lose motivation again! This still doesn't mean regular updates since I'm trying to limit my time on social media/Wattpad :( I'll post them as I write them though, I promise.
This was more of a transition/filler chapter showing Freya as an intern, maybe there's going to be more Dimwit in the next chapter!
(Why are my authors notes so long :o)
